From everything I have read about hauling RV's, you can make money sometimes. But it is very unreliable. if you need a big paycheck every week, it wont be for you. Every guy I've talked to about it says it works good for semi retired people who just want something to do, but dont really need big or steady money.

i think it could work but all of the companies i have found want a new to newer truck, well that is a big payment most of the time if they would let you bring on an older truck with no payment i could see this working, just thinking and typing here

no matter if the truck is new or used it will break

If you think that being a professional driver is a tough way to make a living just try delivering RV's. You would make more money being a Wal mart greeter. In 4 years your truck will be junk. You do not get paid for empty miles. Many drivers sleep in the back seat. You see all these negative posts because it sucks. Take a look at the guys that do this. They are wierdos and almost cult like.

The big downside to RV deliveries is after you deliver it, you now have to get back to point "a" on your dime, right ? So, if you're doing a motor coach, inless you are towing your "toad", you'll need to pay airfare or bus fare. If you're driving your Dually and delivering trailers/5th wheels, you now have to DH back. The RV biz is very fickle, with ups/downs as the economy goes and seasonal too.

This is not alway the case. I run RVs and 90 % of the time I get my own loads back to the east. Yes I run them through my company.

Normally I would not reply to a post like this but your last sentence tick me off. I can see you don't know jack about hauling RVs for a living. Walmart only pays minimum wadge, I make a lot more net than they do. I retired my 05 Dodge with 673,000 miles on it when I was offer a good price for it, my new truck has a dot qualified sleeper. Most O/O don't get paid for dead head miles. That's why I load both ways and keep my dead head to a minimum. Negative posts because it sucks, yes there are a lot of them. Mostly because they came from someone who got fired or just didn't have the brain power to work a truck and lost their butt.

Now here's where you tick me off.

I'm a old hand, been at it a long time. You have less than a year driving a truck. I have 30 years in big trucks 7 years doing RVs. I'll turn 4 million miles next year. I'm sure I have had my CDL class A a lot longer than you. You have not earn the right to make this statement. So when you talk to God tonight ask for forgiveness.

Delivering RV's is not like being a class 1 driver. Maybe 1 % of the drivers are able to get return runs. Most run empty. Most are lucky to make minimum wage. And yes they are cult like. The unbathed , wearing dirty clothes and sleeping in the back of a pickup. Min. wage @ Walmart is probably more than most make and you are in your own bed every night. Don't try and paint a false picture of a really bad job!!
