I figure after a month of lurking on here I might as well join.
I'm 22 and looking to finally start a career because working and school isn't getting me anywhere, rather it's pushing back against me.
My Pops has been and currently is an owner operator.
I'll be starting classes at DDA here in Shreveport soon. People with experience there please chime in.

The best money is tanker/hazmat & 2nd best is refrigerated.
Welcome to the club. -
Started the 4wk course at DDA in Shreveport. From the this first week has been awesome. From the info taught and the competence of the instructor i only have good things to say. I'll be taking the permit test Monday then I'll start the Driver training portion in order to prep for the Road test.

Keep up the good work & studies. You're in a good area for some good money jobs in tanker or refrigerated, being on the coast and I-10 corridor.

Thanks. Completed the first week of classroom academics now it's onto on hands training. This week (Week 2) we focus on backing. Lookin' good so far. I'll be testing for my permit and some endorsements Weds. Since the DMV is closed today for the election.

Took the general knowledge today with a couple of endorsements to get my Class A permit.
Passed all of them on the first try. I must say that DDA has to be doing something right.
Oh.... Almost forgot
SHOUT OUT TO LEW GRILLS
Best pic I could find mustache is still as healthy as ever though. -
End of my 3rd week at Diesel Driving Academy in Shreveport, LA.
This week was focused on city driving and shifting. I feel comfortable and am consistently getting better. Practice can always be used though.
For those who may want to know,
I can say that I am pleased with the 4wk class offered at DDA. Just enough time is spent on Academics(rules, regulations, mechanical knowledge) and driving skills. It won't make an experienced trucker out of you but you will have just enough of the skills and knowledge to get out on the road and hopefully not end up in the newspaper.
One more week of practice until the Road Test and I'll be on the way to my Class A. -
Welcome to the party! A bit late on the welcome, but at least it's there!
