I was medically cleared yesterday, and will be headed back to Springfield on Monday Nov. 12. Hopefully, I will be out by late next week. Can't wait.

Ok guys, just lookin for a little info. My husband is planning on doing his B to A seat upgrade at Pittston during the week of Thanksgiving while his trainer is at home. He has not been home since the first week in Sept. I would like to drive up and see him if possible. My questions are...

    1. How long is the upgrade process? (approx.)
    2. What is the usually time they end for the day?
    3. Is there a certain start day like orientation had?

    Thank in advance!!!

Dont know bout the Pitt. But upgrade is just going through orientation again basically, with tests to make sure he knows what hes doing. He should be given a schedule to go by. Hopefully its right

Well i hope for us to go. His youngest child is asking when he is coming home almost everyday at this point. If we don't go up, it will be xmas before he can come home. That would be a whopping 15 weeks without his daddy. I guess i just hope for the best, expect the worst.

Is he even sure they will be doing upgrades in Pittston that week?

he will have plenty of time to do nothing if there isn't any classes.

He is in the process of finding all that out. Just figured i would find out some info beforehand. If he is too busy/tired there is no point really.

I'm scheduled to attend orientation with Prime in MO on 11/27. I'm pumped to get started. Is anyone else attending the 11/27 orientation?

Yes you can. I believe (since its been awhile since I've looked into it) that the maximum wheelbase is 240" (a requirement for going into Canada,) and must be within two model-years of the current calendar year when you sign on. In other words, this being 2012, it can be no older than a 2010.

So I'm brand new to this Forum and I've got some questions. Hopin' you all could help me out with some answers. Mine is a pretty unique situation I believe. 4 years ago I went to Prime as a student and completed the training process from beginning to end from getting my Permit to CDL to running with my trainer. I passed all tests including the Road Test with Bob!! I believe the total miles required at that time was 60,000; now I believe I saw it was 40,000?? Here's the deal though, I had some serious family issues at the time I completed training and did not return to Prime to drive. They never sent me a bill and time went by. I had so looked forward to "soloing" but had to work locally, outside of trucking. Things have changed and I am strongly considering applying to Prime again. Recently, I called PrimeRrecruiting (my Recruiter at that time, MeLisa, is no longer there). The recruiter I spoke with looked me up, saw I didn't return after training and challenged me... She said something similar to "why would we allow you to come back? We trained you and invested in you and you left. You owe us." I talked with her very patiently and non-argumentatively because I didn't want to irritate anyone at Prime, desiring to leave lines of communication open... What I didn't say to her, because I thought it would be a challenge to her, was, had they billed me, I would have paid because that was the agreement I signed on to. With some further coaxing, she shared that IF I was allowed to return to Prime, having renewed my CDL though I haven't driven in all of this time, I'd have to take a refresher course before coming for re-training (I called U S Truck Driving School and was quoted $2400 for a one week refresher class, as one example of a possibility.)

When I first researched going into trucking, I did a tremendous amount of research in deciding who I wanted to train with and work for. PRIME is the best! I don't want to work for Swift or CR or Werner,... I love this Thread, and I vicariously live through some of you, wishing I could be back! I'd like to know your thoughts on whether you think Prime would realistically let me come back some way? And if so, what would be the BEST way that I may be able to influence their decision, to potentially gain acceptance of my application by Prime? What if I did offer to pay them what they never billed me, whatever that amount is? Or, offer to sign an agreement that I would waive any income ($.12/mile or $600/wk) I should receive during training? These things would certainly be a price to pay, but I would do it if it meant they would accept me again.

Secondly, I've been a day-trader for most of these years since leaving Prime. I've lost much more than I've made! I've hung in with it... but it has become too painful. It is time to let that dream go. So, my tax returns show a blood bath, however, they do show me having traded actively and consistently (as in a job, having traded almost every day for these years). Does my income or lack thereof matter to Prime, or is it my "work history" that matters to them? I had significant savings and have blown through a major portion of them during these years. At no time during my 50 years have I ever been on any kind of government assistance incl welfare, unemployment, food stamps, or any thing else. This is proveable I suppose if they wanted to dig into it. As far as work history, do they want to know if I've been a drain on society, or have been self sufficient, (though I've FAILED at trading)? I have been self sufficient, having lived off of savings, and lost savings over these years since leaving Prime.

Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts! I admire you Prime Drivers and hope to be driving with you again, some day soon!
