I'm just curious how many miles the average company guy are getting? So far.my total average has been 2100. How.do I get my fm to get me more? I do a lot of sitting between and while on loads, not by choice but because my fm gives me loads with tons of extra time on them. I do know that being stuck here inthe northeast doesn't help. I wonder if changing fm might help? Yes I live in maine, but I don't want to be in the northeast regional fleet. I was supposed to be 48state, but most of my time I've been stuck running as a regional guy. I've been home once since I started about amonth ago, and don't plan on going home until after thanksgiving..

    1. if you get a load that you have to sit on then see if they can take it early, call them youself if need be.
    2. As you are new, you will have to build up that trust with your FM, but keep pushing for longer loads.
    3. We are going into winter time, loads are slowing down, you are running miles about what I ran last Feb.
    4. Get out of the NE.
    5. JUst keep pliugging away, it does get better.

Checking in a few hours before on the phone nicely with the receiver can never hurt. It may only get it off early 1 in 10 times but when it does and you can report to dispatch that your mt hours earlier than they planned, then it may get you that extra 500 mile run once or twice a month. However it gets your average up and accomplishes what you wanted - more miles.

Wal-Mart requires a 24hr notice in order to change delivery times. or so I have been told. That said whenever I get a load to a DC and I am going to be early (which is normally) then I start working on getting sales to change the delivery times. Others I call and also have sales work it for me.

there is no way around it.... my best week with prime after a year was 3100 miles... and it was like pulling teeth, and to be honest you may have to run in violation.. they will swear up and down that those numbers are normal!! BS im running SW regional with another company and haven't seen anything less than 2500miles... prime is a sit and wait company

You dont have to run in violation to make money if you know what youre doing. Give your FM a chance to learn to trust you. Only way to gain that trust is to keep doing your job like its supposed to be done.

I haven't had to run in violation. I'm just an impatient person who wants to be moving and not sitting.

If you slow your truck down to say 50, you won't have to sit in one spot so long.... ROTFLMAO

Actually, ol' nuts-fer-brains isn't too far off of it. If you're sittin' a lot - slow down and work on the fuel bonus. Make sure you report your PTA as available right after you unload - send a macro 47. When your HOS break after a load gets close to being over, give your FM a call - and if you're still sitting after awhile, give him another call. Squeeky wheels get greased.

Build trust with your FM... whenever you're at the terminal, drop by and have a quick chat with him. Building the business relationship with him helps. Do your loads efficiently, be on time, and deal with problems yourself. The less he has to intervene in what you're doing, the better off you are. Whenever you can get loaded or unloaded early, go for it... a call to the shipper or receiver and you can work that yourself.
