I dang near married my wife over her creamed chip beef on toast or biscuits. Then I tried her biscuits and gravy. I didn't marry her. I freakin' held her hostage. I think she musta been tryin' to hook me anyway. I came over one morning after a night shift and she had my breakfast ready as I was walking through the door. Biscuits and Sausage gravy, Pork chops, and eggs. I d*mn near died right there. From then on I was hers. It didn't matter if she was satan herself, I was marryin' that woman. :yes2557:

make the gravy with hamburger instead of sausage, and put it on plain pancakes or potato cakes. #### tasty.

on i-80 in illinois take the atkinson exit (theres a lions den, a crappy truck stop, and the best cb shop on the planet there) head north past the tstop, make a right at the stop sign and go about a mile. youll come yo a stockyard/beef auction house. parking for 5-6 trucks, only open from 6-3 m-sa "lisa's place" there b an g is excellent, and its like 3 bucks. 3.35 w/ coffee

While I do really like a big glob of creamy sausage gravy on a pile of scrambled eggs and biscuits, it is not my favorite. No ladies and gentlemen, it is not the best.

The best breakfast gravy is "Red-Eye" made from sugar cured country ham renderings.

After using an iron skillet to fry a pound, or more of the ham, increase the heat until the pan begins to smoke (a lot, like you're making a mistake) then pour in a cup (maybe a bit more) of strong black coffee, stirring to get all the renderings loose from the pan. The ham you just fried should be waiting in a large, shallow bowl. Pour the "Red-Eye" over the ham. Serve with over-easy eggs, grits, and buttermilk biscuits. The biscuits are an excellent tool to get the gravy (and the egg yolks) from the plate into your mouth. Never eat gravy with a spoon.

As a finish, I recommend sourwood honey, real butter, the remainder of the biscuits & ham for desert.

I've had what someone told me was RedEye Gravy, but it was more like a dark brown gravy with tomatoes in it. Never had it before.:biggrin_2556:

I've been thinking the last couple of days...why don't we start a recipe section on here for us truckers? Maybe get some recipes on here from us, the wives, Significant others...etc? Im sure that amongst all of us are plenty of recipes out there for some pretty darned good eatin' just ready to be shared.

    Whatcha think?

Anything I can make at home, I can duplicate in the truck! So if one of these days, if this crazy blonde comes up and offers you food, it's just me, and I made too much for just me and Guy! And yes, I have done biquits and gravy in the truck!
