^^^ ? Most of the time it is store employees with manual or electric pallet jacks... most outside damage is due to dedicated drivers or dc drop lots.

dont limit yourself to walmart, lots of private fleets. focus on keeping your record clean, no csa pts or accidents or tickets and you will be golden.

Because they have a reputation to uphold. With that said, they have laxed on their requirements some, but not by much. When Sam Walton was alive and running things, he knew that his drivers were the key success of his business. Without them he couldn't sell anything. So he made it to where they were the best compensated employees outside of the corporate office.

It's hard to get on with WM in most of the country, but I've known WM drivers who would commute 200+ miles just to drive for them until a spot near them opened up to transfer.

    Here's the minimum requirements:

    Here's the current openings.

All the info can be found HERE.

There's been times where I've checked WM's site and they had absolutely no job listings. From what I've been told though, in the next 5 years a lot of WM drivers will be retiring and positions will be opening up fairly frequently. How true that is, I'm not sure, it's just what a WM driver told me while I was doing their dedicated fleet a few months back.

Also, another thing to keep in mind...not every DC has a dispatch office. Some DCs might control freight for a few separate DCs. There's 2 DCs within 2 hours of where I live, but the only one with a dispatch office is the furthest from me.

Don't look too far ahead though. This industry is constantly evolving and your priorities may change. My initial goal was to do one year OTR then find that sweet local gig. Needless to say, it's been 5 years now and I'm going to a flatbed outfit Monday to start a new era in my career. Best of luck to you.

Wal Mart company drivers are essentially advertising for the company. Thats why they are always so clean, both trucks and drivers, and why they are so picky with the drivers. It's a great job and pays way over average but is very hard to get on with them.

Indeed, I check the site on a regular basis and sometimes no positions in the country are open and other times only one or two. I know a guy that lives 3 hours from the terminal he has a job out of and lives less than 30min from another one but puts up with it until a job opening happens near him because the pay and benefits are so good.

We were exactly the same way until corporate voted for a sell out. Now after the buy out the company trucks are being reduced, pay cuts, holidays cut, medical going to 70-30, no more OT, and many other benefits we were so proud of. There're all going to be just like common carriers. The advertisement doesn't mean a thing when no one see's the truck and company association.

I'll never sell my soul to a company for the bucks again. you only get screwed. it's only a matter of time.
Walmart may pay well, but look at their business ethic,(or lack there of).
I don't shop there or park there.

I want to maintain my self respect and sense of honor. something missing in todays world..

but if your looking. there's one down hwy 601. just south of Monroe,NC, in Pageland,SC

Any good parking spots near there? I drop there on Monday and am a day early. Looks like a mini mart just north of the DC 10 miles has a few slots of truck parking maybe...

which direction are you coming from? there are small truckstops on 74 from either direction and one in Pageland itself if you go south of the DC a few miles to the intersection of 601 and 9. Its right at the junction.
