Ohhhh-Kay. I hope things work out for you Walker. Keep in mind that Utah is an "at will" state when it comes to employment. Basically, that means they can fire you and otherwise screw with you, much more so than in most states. Also, a job with ANY kind of benefits here, is one to hang on to. The vast majority of employers in Utah do not offer ANY benefits. In other words, no paid vacation, holidays or sick leave. No health insurance, though of course this is going to be changing, apparently. Salaries are much lower here than in many other states. However, cost of living does not necessarily reflect this. As far as real estate is concerned, it is a buyer's market right now, and prices have really dropped from what they were five or more years ago.
Please be aware that I am NOT pointing the finger at Andrus here on the employment situation. I really don't know what their policies are, nor what their pay scale is. I am speaking of Utah in general.Snowshoes Thanks this. -
Zero CSA? Hmm, not sure that can happen given ratio of trucks and inspections. That might have been the drivers CSA score coming in. Can get 30 points seen for a couple of the minor items and that's just one truck, one inspection. Andrus? Almost like a 24hr recruiting infomercial. Facts do not lie(unless purposely hidden)if this company was the sh$% then it'd be known that way. Did see one truck and refer setup in Idaho recent, trailer looked fairly used up, truck wasn't new, the lettering was a bit worn off the cab
-
Say what you will, they showed us the score.
You really saw a reefer on a truck in Idaho huh? That is really weird. Andrus is not using the reefers anymore. They have a few they are selling off and they are selling their old trucks. The CSA was for one month. And YES given the ratio of trucks, that is GREAT! Things can change and who knows what next month may bring. As for a "recruiting infomercial" why would it even have to be recruiting the drivers they were showing this too? they were showing it in orientation, They already had us.
The oldest truck that left orientation was a 2010.
So you have your opinion, that is fine, I know what I saw.

No use getting stressed while in the cheap seats here, and if you are so happy with it all then thats okay, I'd personally take a very long wait and see, CSA rules crap is probably only reason these carriers are now building up again+ new trucks are way less engine wise symptomatic vs previous models. Yeah, it'd be way weird to see a carrier bragging up an inspection score 5yrs ago,why take so long anyways?

Not stressed, I know what I like and they have treated me well so far.
I am curious however...what is it you do in the trucking industry? -
Hey guys, just to let you know, (if you don't already,) there are TWO Andrus trucking outfits. The one in St. George is owned by Jim Andrus. The other one, the one in Idaho, is Doug Andrus Distributing out of Idaho Falls. I have no idea if these guys are related or not.
Jim Andrus started out with one old truck, and has really grown his business. I know nothing about Doug Andrus.Snowshoes Thanks this. -
Probably makes sense about the refer, and my partner spotted the rig sitting along side the road, I was like the sight seer on this one

Here is my update with Andrus. Still going pretty well, I have been running steady, mostly the I-15 corridor, some L.A. but it is mostly turn and burn. And I am home as promised.
I have my annual training for the Guard coming up this next week and Andrus got me home 3 days early, I got on the qualcomm, asked if there was any short runs I could do, I got a response back to run empty from West Jordan, Utah to a town outside of Cedar City, Utah, called Beryl Junction, pick up a load, drop that off in Saint George, pick up a load out of the yard and run back to Salt Lake. Like most companies, if you show them you are willing to drive and even shag a few loads, they will treat you with respect. -
While you are running out 56 from Cedar, do NOT sneeze! You might miss Beryl Junction!

You loading potatoes there?Snowshoes Thanks this.
