He is in phase 3 where he is supposed to be learning to drive in all situations & weather conditons. & yes one of his biggest concerns with this guy is possibly getting thrown off trainer's truck & being stranded in the middle of nowhere if he says too much, trainer has a penchant for throwing fits like a 2 year old. As for showering, appparently the trainer has had 2 showers in the past 2 weeks :( & has commented to Wayne that he cares to much about being clean! Wayne doesn't expect to shower twice a day like he does when he's home, but he does think at the very least 2-3 times a week when you have the opportunity.

Thank You everyone for the advice! :) I have taken it all in & I feel better knowing that when Wayne calls this morning I will have good advice & useful information along with some encouragement to pass along to him. I know he feels like he's alone out there on his own, I think it will really help to know he's not the only one who's been in this situation & others are willing to help & advise.

set the trainer up before requesting a new one. His cell phone should have a video camera. turn it on and begin asking questions the trainer has fallon short on. make sure the truck is moving on the highway when he has no seat belt on, etc. Then he has proof!

Yeah WideSkyND-I'm of the same opinion as you & I can speak for Wayne as well, the video phone advice is NOT for us. We don't operate that way. When he called at 6 this morning I did relay all of the other advice & we decided that he was gonna "kill him with kindness", "suck it up", & do his very best to make it through the next 2 weeks without any MAJOR conflicts. My husband is by no means a wuss to be walked all over, he is trying to be patient & professional, this is all just stuff he's never had to deal with before & this is why we asked for any advice & why we both do appreciate all the responses. Thanx everyone! :)

I like your avatar huggybear,Flintstones is my favorite cartoon character. So Wayne us havung issues with his trainer huh.Tell him not to just up and quit.Whos to say he may not face the same problem with his next trainer.I would call the fleet manager first thing tomorrow morning.Back in the day I had some bad trainers. How much time does Wayne have left before he gets qualified? If not too much longer tell him to just stick it out and soon he'll be his own caPTAIN OTHERWISE TALK TO HIS COMPANY TOMORROW.sORRY DIDNT MEAN THE CAPS.

Thanx but no thanx HoneyBee, that kind of thing is just too underhanded for us. If it were something like harrassment or abuse that's a different story, then definitely we'd do video, but in Wayne's case it's just a case of a stinky, childish trainer who doesn't care about anything except getting lots of miles & more money & not about making sure Wayne is properly trained. He's just gonna make the best of a bad situation & if things get worse then he'll ask for a different trainer.

Thanx PattyJ, Wayne only has a little over 2 weeks left.He said he for sure wants to get on at a company that hires solo drivers, team driving is NOT for him! :) I'm gonna be doing some online searching & applying for him, while he's still in training & we're taking some very good advice from the others about not giving up yet & hangin' in there. Anything worth having IS worth working for.

I can't say that I blame him not wanting to do the team thing.I've been solo since I started trk driving back in 2003 and has never teamed. So like what companies are you going to fill out apps for?Because he's still in training or by the time he does get another driving job and just be done with training,he still may have to do the entire training over.Maybe you can ask the recruiter for whatever company you're applying to if Wayne will have to go thru training all over again.

To pattyj* I got some suggestions this morning from Chinatown. I'm also going to reconnect with TMC & McElroy. We really aren't looking to "get rich quick" just looking for a decent company. Have you got any suggestions?
