I hope I get a good one then. I almost had 5100 miles this week, but I had to stop for my new permits at my terminal.

You forgot 1 thing . These companies are buying these trucks at a bulk rate basically . I would love to be a fly on the wall at the bank when these deals are done . My old company bought 65 cascadias for a price of 72,000 each How do i know that ,because for sum reason my old employer thought it was ok to leave the lease agreement he had with the financial dealer in the permits book . And there it listed the terms of his agreement for those trucks over a period of 42 months and how much the finally bill for those 65 trucks was . Its was shocking the price he was paying for those trucks and you compare that to the avg lease payments these companies are charging drivers its almost double . That my friends is a heck of a profit margin just in the purchase of the truck let alone the money they make why its moving down the road. I know about the bulk rates. With over 17,000 trucks on the road, how much do you think Swift pays for a truck? JCT buys about 50 trucks every 6 months, so I'm sure he's got a killer deal. And when they can't get the deal they want, they'll go buy a couple of trucks from a different manufacturer and parade them around. But in all fairness, that's just like everything you buy. Profit certainly can be a bad thing if it is obtained immorally or illegally. If I steal money from you, then I profit but you lose. For example, Bernie Madoff was certainly profitable...except that he was profitable because he stole $65,000,000,000 from investors. JCT's business practice is sound and legal, but not moral or right. There is certainly something wrong with a business practice when you have trucks that are less than a year old that have already had 5 or 6 different drivers in them. Yesterday, I saw 25 numbered truck with the letter F. That means a 2012 Cascadia had 7 drivers in it already. When you are bleeding drivers like that, then there's certainly something wrong with your business model...regardless of how profitable you are. You can sit there and justify it by saying that these companies are helping less fortunate people out, but tell that to the tens of thousands of drivers who lose everything on these leases every year. That is not to say that the driver is not at fault. After all, he is the one who signed the contract...on top of the vast majority of info out there regarding l/p's that can be easily researched. I am all for capitalism and the freedom to run your business as you see fit, but don't tell me that what is going with these l/p's is moral or right...because, in that sense, it isn't.Alanp613 said: ↑because they weren't the ones that thought of it. lolClick to expand... -

is life fair? depends on how you look at it, but most would say no
so we try to make the best of what we have
but that doesnt mean we turn a blind eye to bad things, merely because "thats the way it is"

There's nothing moral or right when it comes to running a business. It's not easy at all being a l/p, or o/p. there are risks and sacrifices in making your business successful. There is no, I've been out 4-5 weeks and I can't even take a few days off. It depends on your personal budget. That truck will only bring in revenue when the wheels are turning. There is a fixed cost coming out of it everyday. If you'd want have a set number of days you want to go home and only stay out a certain amount of weeks then y'all should stay a company driver.

Once again once you take the next step on being an l/p or o/p, you are no longer at a job. You are running a business. Many of these drivers today don't realize that then jump ship. The good thing with jct is that it's a walk away lease.Lilbit Thanks this.
