If you're with a flatbed carrier with a strong freight base and an good or increasing construction and oilfield demand, flatbed, probably. However, if the economy tanks, flatbed freight is the first and worst to tank, along with the economy.

Reefer will always be in demand, as people always have to eat. Getting the right outfit and the right pay is the tricky part.

i cant say too much about reefers as i have never pulled one and never cared to pull one. i can say as of right now flat bedding is where the money's at. there's a lot more to it than just holding a steering wheel tho, it takes a certain breed for flat bedding.

Reefer definitely is not for everyone, nor is flatbedding. My problem with flats is I think the tarps weigh as much as I do, and one good breeze and I'd be flying like a kite!

STexans right, when things got bad 4 years back, i did not sit with a reefer, but flats were hurting. It's easier to switch to reefer from Flats than it is to go from reefer to flats.

It's not actually a question I see come up very often, unlike the 'which starter company is better . . . ' stuff.
