Thanks for posting that list. Glad I didn't see Viagra on it

I have to deal with those same people and you also. At 75 miles an hour and 80,000 pounds, I would hope that the guy passing me has the ability to handle life without some experimental chemical in his system changing his perception of life and ability to deal with it.
Note: Until its been around long enough to see the affects on your children's children, it is an experimental chemical. -
I suggest you do some research and educate yourself regarding these medications before you post something that clearly substantiates the fact you don't know what you're talking about as you have above.JV_620 and Rumblestrip Thank this.

I know I was hired and just rehired. Swift made me sign waiver/disclaimer for it saying that I'm not allowed to drive for such and such of hours after taking it. That was all.

If you are taking a prescribed drug you should mention this to the doctor performing the DOT physical. And, most likely the company that you are applying to will require a note from from the prescribing doctor that the meds will not affect your performance as a driver.

You may well have strong grounds for a discrimination lawsuit if the employer prohibits you from taking prescribed medications that are not specifically banned by DOT because of the American's with Disabilities Act. In fact Old Dominion just lost a huge lawsuit filed by EEOC on behalf of an admitted alcoholic. Employers are recently discovering that they do not have the authority they once thought they had. Consult an attorney familiar with the ADA if you are discriminated against ASAP. If truckers don't start defending their rights immediately, the next thing you know they will be telling you that you are not allowed to eat at McDonald's because "they" have decided it is unhealthy.JV_620 Thanks this.

Actually it is not their choice (the employers) anymore. Take a look at the EEOC's defeat of Old Dominion. In that case it was shown that even alcoholic's are protected from such discrimination. It's called the American's with Disabilities Act.
JV_620 Thanks this. -
Actually the American's with Disabilities Act prohibits such discrimination. Just look at the EEOC's recent victory against Old Dominion. Even alcoholics are protected from discrimination based on their medical condition.JV_620 Thanks this. -
And that is completely wrong in this industry. If you have problems like that, or need meds that have certain side effects, you have no business on the road period. That may sound a bit harsh, but driving period is NOT a right it's a privilege!
