I got a Freightliner FLD with a cummins ISX motor. The truck drives well except for the temperature. Whenever going up hills the temperature rises well above half. I have to stop and leave at idle for a while and it drops, or i have to switch it off till it cools down. On normal flat roads it fine at normal. I was advised to get the radiator flashed and cleaned. Any thoughts please..... Dont want to cook up this this truck

    The fan is connected directly.

Yes, its running all the time. I disconnected the wire that switches it on and off so it runs all the time.

Mine will run up to 210 / 215 at times, was told this is normal. Sounds like cleaning off the radiator would be the first thing to try,I use an air hose to gently blow the trash out of the fins about once a year.

Would you recommend using radiator flash?

Not sure what that is. Sounds like radiator cleaning solution that you add to the water in the radiator. Some of that strong stuff can be harmful. Try cleaning the outside of the radiator first. Much cheaper, and is more often the problem than a clogged water system.

What is the actual temp range which you are concerned about? "Half" doesn't help much.

    Cottonmouth85 Thanks this.
