not sure about a drop yard down there....haven't heard of one or been to one around there yet.....i took a guy home once that lived in charlotte and his truck was down hard in the shop at greensboro.....i was out of hours getting there and he had me park where he did behind a store down the street from his house.....
i think as long as you can demonstrate a secure area they're cool with where you choose to park it if you can't park it at the house.
Better earning potential, Dry-Bulk or Regional Van?

Pros:
Best chance of being home nightly
Pays well
Mostly smaller companies to work for
Half your trip will likley be unloaded which makes for some easy driving
Cons
Seasonal - will slow down in the winter or poor weather
Can be line ups to load/unload depending on how busy the cement plan is and how well the dispatcher does his silo management (you should be paid waiting time)
Can require climbing on top of tankers to open lids and dealing with fall arrest equipment (if you are lucky they will use automatic lids on their new trailers)
Up to you to decide where it goes:
Steady route - Can become tedious to some but to others that stick with it it allows them to plan to have a life outside of the truck.
Wont be driving all day - You will spend some of your day unloading (my trailers take less than an hour for 44.5 MT) -
My friend pulls pnuematic hauling dry cement he is home every day and off most weekends and makes like 80,000 a year as a company driver
