The new ATF is a lot different than the ATF that was available when everybody used it to clean and lube their fuel systems. This is coming from a guy who USED to abide by using ATF in diesel fuel. Now after talking with several mechanics, and several oil distributors, that stuff is NEVER getting near my fuel tanks again. Howe's and Standadyne are my favorite fuel additives, that or TCW3 (IIRC) rated 2 stroke oil. I have a 90 gallon fuel tank on my Pete, I add 3 quarts per fuel up, basing off of running 1 quart per fuel up in my Pickup, with a hair shy of a 30 gallon fuel tank. I am not sure how the CARB BS laws run but when you can't run that old girl in California anymore, give me a shout I'm sure I could give her a nice home up here in Wyoming! A bit jealous of your find to say the least!

Ya, I got lucky. It has a wet kit (tank mounted just aft of the passenger fuel tank) with Chelsea PTO pump on it. The farmer really set it up to tow anything on the farm as well. If you look closely, it has a pintle hook on the back, receiver hitch below that and you can't quite see it but there is a hide-a-way gooseneck ball behind the 5th wheel too (I stowed it in down position while messing around with the air slide).

Thanks all for your comments. Whew. I was hoping I wouldn't get blasted for being an idiot for spending $4K on an old truck.

Heck... for $4k that'd make momma a cool grocery getter.. but I'd never convince her of that and I'm sometimes a nervous wreck as a passenger with her in a 4-wheeler anyways LoL..

I noticed that pintle hook, really nice setup. Idiot you are not, just a very lucky person with a nice old rig. That is a classic and should outlast the Tonka trucks for years.

Short hoods are cool too. When I get back home I'll scan a pic of my cousin's '85 W900 "Liberty Edition" original paint scheme it's a short hood and looks great. 400 big cam Cummins, 15 speed, 3:90's and tall 24.5's with 6" extended turnout stacks. Flattop hooked to a stainless reefer.
