Looking at a Driving Job in Wyoming. Runs to SLC out and back on I80.

Is this doable all winter or will I be sitting half the month? I understand I will be chaining a lot.

This is easily doable, and you most likely won't use the chains. There is always the exception, but I would be surprised if you chained up.

If it starts getting nasty out there on I80 in Wyoming, it gets shut down.

What Taildragon said with one exception. Due to all the namby pamby's running I80. Wyoming just closes their roads as soon as a snowflake is spotted in the sky.

Thanks for the info. It has been 5 years since I ran that stretch of road. Preparing for the worst. It sounds like wind is more of a problem than snow.

You guys got any wind advice?

Blowing hard with any trailer or load that's tall and light, park it.

When you park it, park so the wind isn't blowing across the trailer. You can still fall over when you're not moving.

The areas of wyoming that are prone to weather problems, have variable speed limits, the signs will change to lower speeds if Winds or ice are a problem.
:mmad:Now if they would do something about those Deer Crossing signs, they need to be moved to a safer place for the deer to cross

Yes, you can run it all winter long........IF the road is open, but be prepared to sit at times while you're waiting for the road to open and they will close it when it's nasty. Ever notice the gates on the on ramps ? In reality, with a normal winter, the highway might close 2-3 times over the winter months when a nasty storm comes thru. And you might sit for 4-6 hours......
