Hello, I really enjoy driving for Stevens! I wish the pay was a little better, but I am starting off & getting experience & thats something that is paid back in more than money. I do wish the home time was a little better where I lived, but I finally got home and thats what counts. Really good equipment, here I am, a young gun driveing around like whoa, this is a good piece of equipment for a rook. Everyone Ive interacted with on the yard and road has been pretty cool, met some very interesting, kind hearted, and also scary people along the way. Getting ready to hit the road again and I kinda want to stay home, but Im sure after Im rolling again Ill be good to go again after a couple miles. Really not too keen on the lease program lol but some people seem to do well for themselves, me Id rather just get a higher cpm somewhere else . But that wont happen til I get more experience, and Stevens is the best place for that. It really is what you make it, you cant just go through the motions and expect a pair of keys . Hm, youll run into some ppl on the yard that will try to paint a negative picture but thats when you just gotta be like "uhhh gotta go!! UHhh moms calling haha." There are days where I just wanna call it quits but I look at all the ppl who come back after quitting, or return after drivin for someone else, and hearin them say stuff like "IF you thought this companys bs was off the charts, wait til you go to _________ Trucking!" And Im just like d*mn, makes you think . Really glad I went with Stevens, gonna giver a year and give my self more time to adapt. YOu just gotta be like ole Forrest and strap on your magic shoes and dont stop running .

That's a good attitude Ehh... it's certainly not the best company out there... but also not the worst... it is kind of like the way I answer anytime someone asks me how I am doing... I just tell them "better than some, not as well as others"
It is what it is and use it for what it is. -
Great info here, Thank you all. I have a couple questions. First of all I am headed to Texas to start orientation with Stevens Transport on friday (11-16-12) start sunday (11-18-12) I live in NC, I am a recent CDL grad. First question, I have about 13 acres of fenced in farm land and it is gated, do you think I'll be able to take the truck home? (company driver)
Also would taking a duffle bag and backpack with --- 10 pants - 10 long sleeve/Tshirts - socks/undies - jacket - gloves - clipboard - small stapler - small shower kit bag - sleeping bag and travel pillow - headlamp - soft binder with paper etc. - rain coat - boots - calculator - pens/pencils - sunglasses - ballcap (hat). Is that too much stuff and or am i missing anything?Last edited: Nov 14, 2012

You will have to get the parking approved, but my guess would be no... as far as what you bring, keep in mind whatever you bring will be sharing the bunk with you for 8 weeks...

I would suggest less than half of those clothes. You can do laundry along the way at truck stops. As KMac said, that duffle bag will share your bunk with you.

Emulsified or others,
Is Denver a good place to live for home time?
Thanks ..... -
We send a lot of freight to Denver and Cheyenne. Major customers include Safeway, King Soopers, Walmart. Getting home should be no problem.
moonshadow Thanks this. -

Just can't stand to think someone is happy.
What a shame that you're so unhappy as to accuse someone of deferential intention.
I happen to know quite a few happy people at Stevens.
And no..I'm not recruiter, or safety person.oncnavy96 and Corporal_Clegg Thank this.
