Ok... There is a Conway terminal 5-10 min. From my house, I diddnt know they hired students. And then I'll check out Millis transfer. As for Swift... I've already been through their ######## of sitting around 4 yrs. ago; NO THANKS. And if FFE is WORSE! I guess I gotta keep looking else where huh. So Big Duker, Tell us how FFE did you wrong bro.

Since you quoted MY post, I have to assume that you believe, I was putting the "idle" information about May out there.....I did not. I was reacting to an earlier post.

Regaurdless....I stand by my post, based not just on May Trucking, but the industry as a whole; or hole if you prefer.

You may want to check out Central Refrigerated Service. They are out of Salt Lake and have a training program which all you need up front is food money.

It looks like FedEx Freight in Salt Lake has Apprentice Driver positions. I'm going to check it out and apply, I heard it was hard to get a job with them hopefully they'll call. Anybody have any info on the apprentice training?

    T. Pete ... Thanks for your remarks. I've been reading all these posts and thinking .... With all the complaining I read about, it astounds me that there are ANY DRIVERS AT ALL OUT THERE on the road!! You're right - Anything in life is what we make it.
With that said ... I'm looking to become a driver. I have no CDL. So I'm new, I need training and I'm female to boot. So I feel that perhaps I may have it even harder than the guys. HOWEVER, I STILL want to do this.... I have a couple of girlfriends who driver ... and they love it.
Any suggestions or input you can give would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I would recommend trying to find a smaller, mom and pop type company. Doesn't have to be really small, just not a mega-carrier. One big advantage of this is that most of these smaller companies won't make you take a refresher course.

I recently was in the same situation and got hired on at a smaller company. Instead of a refresher course I just took a road test and they had me team with another driver for a week. I ended up making such good money teaming that I kept on doing it after the first week. I still have the option of solo and from time to time I do but right now I just can't pass up the good team $$$!

All in all you will be better off not going with a mega-carrier anyway. You may want to check your DAC also if you have worked for Swift and left them. The tend to put bad things on your DAC when you leave them.

    Good luck man...

Oh sh!#! Really Swift does that. I am going to have to check that man. That's all I need for that nightmare to come back. Ok. They would leave me sitting, they wouldn't answer me on Qualcomm for nine ten hours after delivering an on time load. And I didnt even nag at them or anything. They would never have anything ready. But when I was with a trainer he always had loads ready everything ran smoothly never any problems. And I wanted to be out there 3-4 for weeks to make money I never requested time off after a week or two. Once you go solo they forget about you it's ########. I had to get a load to go home, I unloaded all my stuff and turned in my truck. I was getting checks for $215 to 336 a week being out there 3-4 weeks. Now was I wrong in doing that after five months am I a wuss? I'm sorry I came to work not to sit around in a truck for days and be wondering when my next load is comin ya dig. S### how long does that negative crap stay on your DAC? I've been out of trucking for 4 yrs.
