Sounds like I should talk to Roehl and try to switch over to van.. I wouldn't want to get up there and get booted out..

Big Chief, you asked about doing deck work and you got good answers here. IF you want deck work forge ahead and do it. It's far more satisfying than slamming door and it will assist you in any weight loss you work towards.

    Best of luck to you.

    Big Chief Thanks this.

i would go for the flat myself. if you did get booted for.whatever reason they would likely take you in the vans anyways but i would go for the flat. heck they are in wi, everyones fat. lol

if your blood psi is right at the limit like mine is on my meds. which i take 20mg linsinopril i believe it is. if i know i have a test coming up a few days before hand i start taking one at nigt and one.in the morning instead of my regular once a day. that knocks it down to about 110/75 which is about where it should be but i hate taking them twice a day. then i am good to go. i have a monitor.that i can keep track of it as much as needed.

also my bp has dropped on.its own since starting flatbedding

I saw a lady driving a flat bed hauling steel coils. My guess she was 6' around 250 lbs or so. She had one of those little giant ladders that she had chained up on the back of her cab. I thought she was a drivers wife but she had a pair of gloves on and was checking her tires with a tire buddy.

Hey WideLoad: Mercer is one of those Carriers that does check for sleep apenia depending on your neck size when you come to orinatation. They just don't get the tape measure out unless they see someone looking questionable.

i have not ever been questioned about it anywhere and i did.work for schneider for a short bit. i guess i must not look that out of shape regardless of my weight. i have always done hard work with the exception of the past few years.

i think if a guy has it he deffinatly should get tested. my dad had it terrible and he was a tiny guy. like 5'6" and 145lbs. he scarred me driving and later on before he died he actually did nod off and wreck a truck. i just dont agree with testing everyone. i would be super mad if i got sent to do a sleep study because of my neck size alone

Why not just call Roehl and express your concerns to them? Maybe it isn't a big deal to them. Also I know there are a couple of Roehl threads on the forum, ask a couple of them. A member called Treefork (he works where your headed) comes to mind..

I got you beat by about 10 lbs, and I'm an inch or two shorter !! First off, get a good physical. there's lots of doc's out there, they are only $50 / piece. If you got a blood pressure problem, get meds, and take an extra one before the physical. dont be a chump.

Secondly, if you think you have sleep apnea, get the machine. Do you doze off during the day, do you snore at night ? I mean, for pete's sake if you have sleep apnea that means you aren't getting proper sleep and you aren't living to your fullest during the day. A job is one thing, but it's about your life. I can't believe I got as big as I am over about a 4 to 5 year period. Looking back, I probably had sleep apnea most of my adult life. Now I have a CPAP and I never doze off, feel better, more productive, etc... A cpap isn't something you get "stuck on". It's a life improvement apparatus, if you think you might need one, go to a doc. Sadly, you do have to take the sleep study and shell out some bucks if you don't have insurance, I wish they'd let people just try one and see if it helped, but that's not the way it works.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, for me, looking back now. I lost a few jobs and things because I was late a couple times, in hindsight, it was the sleep apnea. I tried to plan out my trips, but when you plan for 6 hours sleep and you basically don't get any even though you laid there snoring, I mean it's not good. got so bad before I got my machine some times I would sleep 10 hours and still I'd go down the road a ways and have to stop for a nap I was nodding off so bad. you don't want to let yours get this bad if you have it. Having a machine blow some air up your nose while you sleep is no big deal, not getting adequate sleep is.
