Will do PSU. I'm eager and antsy at the same time. This will be all new to me. I am a cabinetmaker by trade but the housing industry is just plain dead, especially in S.W. Ga. and folks dont want or cant afford custom cabinet work down here so I just cant make a living. All I do know is I need work, steady work and trucking I think will come naturally for me. I've had all the wives and children I'm gonna have so I got no strings or anyone gonna miss me much so I guess I got a leg up on a lot of folks coming in. Other than my mother and my two brothers and my 5th wife (dog), I will not miss the state of Georgia !! I'm a little long in the tooth (54) but I'm in #### good shape and strong as an ox. My only child, a son died in 2006 and I promised him that one day I would just get in a truck and drive into the sunset. I really want to keep that promise to him. I'll keep you posted brother !!

Blukatnga I am sorry to hear about your son I wish you luck in driving into the sunset. You will be happy to know that central has just started allowing pets again. 50lb max and a $500 deposit.

Man that is great news for me about the pet policy. I'll gladly cough up 5 bills for her !!

Hi all, just trying to get info. Thx to BiggRigg for starting thread. Anyone start with 'Central' who already had a class A. Wanted to see what that process is like. Thats where I'm at, class-A with all endorsements. I just been a yard jockey since 2000, no otr, & no maual shifting.
Anyone here looked @, CR England? Maybe theres a thread for them... -
Well I haven't posted for a while but I made it to Salt Lake City via a 42 hour grueling, insulting, cramped, humiliating bus trip with our good friends at Greyhound. I would say to anyone (especially those of you from the South) you are in for one rude, pushy, in your personal space experience !! Brings lots of snacks cause a bottle of water at one of these wonderful stops like Atlanta, St Louis etc. will set you back about $3.00. And don't get me started on the cost of food. PACK SNACKS FOLKS !!
Anyway, been here a week and I'm taking final driving test tomorrow and then on to orientation. It's been cold here but bearable. If you coming to SLC you had better have some cold weather gear. There's a lot of standing around in it !! My day typically has been starting at 4:30 am and ending around 8:00 pm but you learn a lot and the company has treated all of us fantastic !! We didn't have to stay in the "jail cell" but sent directly to the hotel where we have been treated very, very well and I am so appreciative of this. The instructors have a tough job to do and they have all been very professional and honest with us about their expectations of us. Some folks have been sent home as will happen. You cannot afford to lighten up here so stay focused. Well wish me the best and thanks for this blog !! -
Road Eater- Yes Central will hire you as long as your background, drug test, and driving reccord pass muster. If you have no experieance they will require you to take a "refresher" course, I think that is waved if you graduated within 60 days. Hope that helps, feel free to ask any other questions you have.
Blukatnga- Good job so far. Good luck on your test! -
Passed the final driving test today. Almost lost a couple folks but they came through in the end. So we are all CDL holders with no illusions. About 3-4 inches of snow and potential black ice this morning. We were all spent last night and some went out to treat themselves to a good meal while others just crashed. I did both. A bit of practice docking today and hooking up/dropping and on to orientation on Monday through Wednesday and then we'll all wait on our trainers. Central has treated us very well and I appreciate it.
