Keep in mind if a potential new recruit asks, a copy of the contract is made available to you. Like Alan said Grabagear welcome aboard.
Owning a business is not for everyone, but we are provided the needed tools here to be able to succeed. In the 5 years plus I have been here, I have had bad days but never regretted the move I made to come here.

The problem is how they treat you is a new independent contractor your independent contractor on paper only according to the law you have abilities to make choices according to JCT you do not.
Lilbit Thanks this. -
Google "how to succeed a jb hunt lease purchase". It will give you the details from a driver there that has succeeded at the lease purchase program from jb. I know this is a JCT forum but i have read his page and it has some very good info on how to own your truck at the end and make it through the lease. A lot of very good points.

Once again if you want freedom, buy your own truck and broker your own loads. Otherwise once you're leased onto a company, you follow their rules.
-
Even if you buy your own truck and broker your own loads you have people you must answer too. It is an opportunity to run and "ultimately" own your own business outright.

Nice straw man. You and LMB made snide remarks about profit being a dirty word because we didn't think of it First. I responded to it in a general sense and now we're talking about what's moral and right with running a business. Pick a subject and stick with it.
I couldn't have posted it better myself.
I read my contract and knew full well what I was getting myself (and my family) into. You are trying to turn this around into a woe is me situation...which it certainly isn't. If you go back and reread all of my posts about JCT, nowhere in there will you find 1 word of blame towards JCT. As a matter of fact, I said that JCT was a good company that treated their employees well. I stand behind that statement 100%. I won't, however, pull the wool over my eyes and say that I agree with their business practice. -
Is it because they are making too much money leasing trucks? Go out yourself and try to buy a brand new or used 2010 or newer truck, you either have the same interest rate and payments as jct or you'll just be denied.

Yes, you are an employee. period.
-
You still happy? Thanks for the consideration

If you act like an employee you will be treated like an employee. If you think of your self as "just an employee" you will always be just an employee. Are there rules i must abide by? YES but those rules/expectations are clearly outlined in both orientation and your lease agreement. I tend to stop and sit in on a portion of orientation once or twice a month and it never fails there will be the handful of new drivers stating loudly all of the things they wont do (loads east of the Mississippi, loads up north, loads down south, driving overnight, early mornings on and on), and when there business fails or begins to fail, they do not see what part they have played in their outcome. To succeed you need only to have the right tools and a successful mindset. The tools are provided for you, but the mindset and knowledge is something you must have on your own.
There are places I would prefer not to go, customers i would prefer not to deal with and just as i have gotten to know my team mates in Sapulpa, they too have learned my likes and dislikes. But when i am needed to do something I would prefer not to do I do so, as our customers must be serviced if WE are too succeed.
