What is it with folks. They want their goods they buy delivered but they protest much needed truck parking that is slowing going away.
I am by no means advocating for PFJ as I dont like much of their inattention to truckers needs but this town has crossed the line.

there was already a resturant there with a huge lot for truck parking.....so dumb

That is typical nowadays, I read in our newspaper that same thing a few years ago, the county officials said that they wanted to be a destination rather than a stop off, the politically correct verbage never ends.
I have, since I was young starting out in this industry, always had great respect for the town of Presque Isle, Maine simply because they had enough respect and good sense to have a free municipal truck parking lot with room for a lot of trucks, and it was right down town. I haven't been up that way in years, I wonder if they still have that? -
Um yeah...... There's already a restaurant with a huge truck parking area at this exit. https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=39.412175,-84.151239&spn=0.00819,0.021136&t=h&z=16 What's wrong with building a nice new truck stop and contributing to the local economy? I bet the ones complaining will be amongst the first ones to go there for cheaper fuel.
I guess that town doesn't need any extra tax revenue and open job positions. -
Can you blame them?? It will lower property values, the traffic it creates, and the sheer amount of garbage and pollution.........
We are an eye sore to them!!

Twchnically NO it no longer exists, Arrostook County Municiple Court there now. However Many businesses on the Houlton side let you park, Mardens Store on the caribou side lets you park, and nearly all Potato barns let you park undisturbed if your not blocking the temperature light/doors. Also limited Parking by court house. Lots accross the road from there, and also Maine street outside of the very downtown 4 way intersection near the Braden Theatre is free game except during snow storms. Aroostook Center Mall also won't disturb if its not busy and you park in the parking area between Home Depot entrance and Main mall entrance although that's where they put snow in the winter time.
As a proud "County Boy" born and raised up there if you don't make a mess and you don't interfere with business no one will bother you.Last edited: Nov 17, 2012
Taildragon Thanks this. -
Forgot to add this goes for any trucks EXCEPT trucks Owned/Leased/or that say PRIME anywhere on them. Sorry boys but your company and lease operators dug their grave in "The County" and you are by no means welcomed or wanted by very many people up there and if you do park be forewarned it is at risk to your own/company owned equipment from what I have heard from many.
Haul freight at 30% of what old contracts were and put enough local companies out of business and some reason they aren't warm to your presence.
