Already have 4 of them and counting as well as pickups with them. Love all of them. By far everyones favorite tractors. The power and response is much better than the Tier 3s , they run much quieter and smoother and can be run in the shop intermittently without the side effects of headaches and nausea. By far the biggest advantage has been fuel savings. While we did also go to CVT transmissions the fuel savings have been astronomical. Running side by side our 350hp tractor next to the 255hp tractor hauling the same loads up and down the same hills but a top speed of 35mph for the 350hp versus 25mph for the 250hp tractor resulted in a savings of over 5 gallons per hour. The 250hp tractor was actually only tier 2 which makes the results look even better.

Our earliest tractor with SCR had its glitches. It was also a brand new tractor from the ground up for the company who has a reputation of "bugs". The rest have been running great.

In the ag industry these engines are loved by many. Aside from the hassles of dealing with DEF most people are happy that they got the power and economy back that we all missed.

Someone mentioned boats in this thread as being next.
In Europe they allready are using DEF on the riverboats.

Incinerators are using something like DEF (different % off Urea so it doesn't go by the DEF name) to clean up their exhaust fumes.

So they are targetting the other pollutors.

durallymax mentioned not getting a headache when next to a DEF machine.
I find it very nice that when my truck is stone cold and i'm standing above the exhaust(weedburner pipe),i smell 0% off dieselfumes.:biggrin_25514:
And if i have to start my truck in my workshop i don't have to open everything up to get rid off the fumes.
So would i ever want an old school truck again?
    NO,NEVER.

There is a member who has the sentence "dieselsmoke puts lead in your pencil " in his profile.
Somebody should tell him that lead is a poison and kills.:biggrin_255:

Working on that. Currently all massey fergusons and one case ih. The MF's have Fendt's Transmission. Their Sisu engine is very nice also. Fendt uses Duetz. The rest of the MF doesnt even hold a candle to the Fendt. The Case is impressive for Case but light years behind.

Pricing a couple Fendts now. Hoping to switch to them. Its tough due to the price jump but their features and reliability are well worth it. Especially for high speed transport like we use them for. Dual circuit braking means youre always protected, an emergency steering pump on the axle shaft helps you coast to safety, the exhaust brake is a very nice feature as is the air parking brake and air trailer brakes. The cab is fully air ride, the front suspension is independent and the tractors are equipped with stability control and abs.

Ive been sold on them for awhile but when it comes to price its hard for me to sell them to the others. Aside from free service for 3 years the rest of the cost is simply made up for in downtime, operator satisfaction and resale. The three things that dont have hard numbers and are hard to judge until you try. With the extensive downtime the MF products have caused us, the Fendt has progressed to the pricing table.

Our Family farm was all Case IH until they were taken over by New Holland, we held on to the better Case's we had but when we needed new tractors we looked at JD and Fendt close at that time ( 2003 ).

Im glad we went with Fendt, they are great, we have about 10 of them now.

We had the first 936 in the southern hemisphere but have a mixture of 400,700,800 and 900 series.

I have not looked back since then, the fuel savings are excellent, the purchase and service costs are no higher than a similar spec JD, the resale value is good.

they are very comfortable and they really do more work in the same time.

we have an 818 that has done 8000 hours and has never needed any more than routine maintenance.

they are daunting for new drivers at first but they become very user friendly after a day or two in the seat.

The last part of your post couldnt be more true. So many people talk about how the MF is easier to run when in reality its a PITA to run. The MF is easier for new guys to jump in and go. After 10hrs in each with the proper training I dont think anyone could say the MF is easier to operate. Everything with the Fendt is just so much easier. Its extremly complex yet simpler. The germans just know how to do everything better. Our Claas chopper, VAG cars, Knipex/Metabo/etc. Tools, and everything else from them has been top notch and outperforms anything from any other country. Im all for supporting american jobs, but I never associate "Made in the USA" with quality, innovation or economical. American workers are too lazy and sue happy. When my family toured the Claas plant they noticed there were few warning signs and not everyone had all of the safety equipment. They said their courts ruled more on common sense than by the book, if you stick your finger in there and it gets cut off thats your own fault, you dont get a million dollar settlement.

I feel 50% of the time made in USA means made in USA by immigrant workers or made in USA by lazy, grumpy, non-dedicated,sue-happy union workers. Even if they arent technicly union usually everything else stilll applies.

Nevertheless. Fendt builds the most reliable, comfortable, technologically advanced, and efficient tractors. It really goes to show how great they are when some of the local JD fans are switching. Its the only brand the JD fans will switch to.

The newer X5 cab is great.

The tractors were pricing are a new Fir Green 824 to replace our old DT200 Agco and a 933 to replace our DT275b Agco. Unfortuneatley we cannot get the 936 or 939 stateside yet.

I farm as well. We have four OTR trucks for transporting grain. I can directly compare a 6nz 550 cat in a 379 vs a BXS 550 cat in an 05 379. Efficiency and power between the two is not even comparable. We have also owned all generations of Duramax engines in chevy/GMC 2500HD pickups. You definitely know more about the ins and outs of the various regulations. Ill stand by my assertions that the increase in emissions related components have reduced power, efficiency, economy, and greatly increased not only the price of the engines themselves, but maintenance costs as well. Is the cost worth the gain? I have a feeling I will be running my older farm tractors and combines as long as possible to avoid this ####.

I bought an 02 t800 with a detroit to specifically get around emissions. I plan on running the truck for a good 10 years, hopefully by then they'll have everything figured out. Personally I think we're barely starting to turn the corner now. The MPG may be back, but the maintenance and breakdown issues are still here.
