When was I-10 rerouted to Dallas? Just sayin........
-
Whoa!! Easy there! You have that big grade out of Indio and a couple grades east of Benson, AZ. There's a couple of smaller grades east of El Paso before you get to Van Horn, too.
-
Nice job.
Now, please figure the fuel cost of both routes.
I can't imagine that driving nearly twice the distance could be cheaper, just to save on a few steep grades. -
He says he's concerned with fuel ... I think the real issue is snow.
TruckerSue and Logan76 Thank this. -
I would hope because if using some extra fuel in the mountains is the issue he's hauling for too cheap and deserves to go broke... -
Really?? What about the fuel that your not going to be using going downhill?? It all averages out to be about the same (at least in my rig).
Now, if it was snow and ice you were worried about, that's a whole different story.
I'm not trying to be a smart alec, just trying to make more sense of your concern with "driving through the mountains". -
up hill is up hill, I do the rock pile 4 times a week highway though hell to but here in western Canada its all up hill east or west
-
Hire a really big helicopter or charter a C17, from the Air Force. Otherwise, you're gonna be mountain driving.
-
It's not the same in my rig. I get about .5 mpg better when i bounce around oh, il, ia, ne, ks, mo, in, as compared to pa, wv, va, tn. Coming out of our terminal in SLC, ut? I dont even look anymore. It hurts.
Bottom line though, mountains exist; if you cant make money if you have to cross them, than you cant make money.
