Son's with a great mentor right now, We had a plan that when he was done with the training he would lease and would team together ? Talked to he's mentor this morning ( sounds like a great guy ) been driving for swift for 6 yrs never been late with a load -no accidents !- about four yrs ago he said he went to the o/o part of the company about leasing and said the office guy of that department ( leasing ) told him swifts leasing program was set up to fail ???? ...

Guys, take it one step at a time... Learn to drive first. You are going to have trouble just backing up the first 3months let alone running a business and driving. Once you do educate yourself and get some experience you will realize that it is a very bad idea to lease from England (or any company for that matter)!

If its such a profitable idea why do you think England wants you to pay for their trucks instead of them?

On a side note, once you become a lease driver and then find out you can't make it you will no longer be able to go back to company driving and England will see to it that you won't be able to get a job anywhere else either!

Driving for England itself is a company driver is a huge risk, don't compound it by leasing from them!

    LodiKen Thanks this.

    Thanks Chompi.
All tho I was * NOT * taking about England it's still a good thing to know about that company . Just wish some of the drivers that do lease would post things like there payments etc etc. Were not to knew to driving , Son's been old the road for 2yrs , and I hauled flatbed and pole hauling....I'm retired now ( early ) and we had hoped to team up and just keep everything i he's name......... Anyway thanks for the post..

If I was never an owner op, I'd probably want to be. Just need to do what works the best for you. The company you lease with will make all the difference. It took me 3 tries to get with a good outfit I was happy with. Who knows,..... if I'd started with the best outfit first, I may have ended up with the worst just by not knowing and listening to the blue sky BS on the radio.
Now that I'm a company driver, it took me about 10 different outfits to be content.

May I suggest you consider some additional things before you decide to lease? How well do you keep accurate detailed records, receipts and paperwork? Do you have any experience in running the day to day operations of a small company? The reason that I ask is that when you lease, you ARE running a small business.
    .
Personally, I have zero interest in running my own business and therefore leasing/purchasing a truck. That is just me. If you decide to be a company driver for awhile, speaking to other drivers that lease and pick their brains can provide invaluable information. What did they do right? What would they do differently today? And maybe most importantly, what mistakes did they make along the way. You can gather a wealth of information that will save you a lot of time, money and problems later on should you decide to lease. Just something to consider.

Take it from a Former England Driver. Do not let ANYONE in SLC,specially the Jackals at Horizon Pressure you into a Lease. Take a Year and just Learn the Ropes and listen to ones that are in the Know. You'll be glad you did.
