We had one like that, he thought he was dog with finesse. He liked to lay on the neighbors S-10 truck hood in the evenings and watch the area. The neighbor got mad and set out some ethylene glycol and the cat lapped it up. End of Friskie the cat.
Who are these mail truck drivers?

Our cats are all indoor cats, but we don't declaw just in case one slips out. Has happened before. I use a spray bottle of water to teach them to claw only what they are allowed to claw. Each person has their own way of doing things though!
All of our critters are rescues in way or another. The dog came from someone who got her from the pound, she found two of our cats when they were only hours old (9 years ago), and the other two cats are rescues as well. The two the dog found we kept because the humane society would have just put them down, since the were ferals. Most affectionate cats I have ever owned too! Understandable, since we bottle fed them from birth.EZ Money and Truckinchic Thank this. -
That is to funny. A cat ringing a doorbell..to cute. We have a few strays poking around the neighborhood. Theres one I have been trying to find to bring in,,hes a little tiny black one that someone dropped off. Spotted him yesterday, swung the car around to try to get close, but by the time i got there my cars exhaust scared him. I could see how thin the poor thing was and knew it was cold and hungry. Any ideas on how I could catch him and bring him in.

What a topic change!
Used to be a casual driver for Kyla in Atl, usually didn't seem like such a bad gig, but may have changed in 20 years. As I recall, there was a set number of hours to get a run accomplished in and some of the time you could beat the schedule and make a few extra dollars, i.e. you got paid for 8 hours for an 8 hour run regardless of how long it took. Don't remember what happened if the truck broke.
Bender, know what your saying, but some folks say it hurts a cat to have claws removed (fingernails taken off maybe); don't know, cats can't type on keyboard to respond to this post. Already done and know you had best of intentions,so take good care of the kitty because ther are lots of them out there needing a home!
Truckinchic, maybe put food (and water) out and try to be around if you can to let this poor stray (maybe whoever threw it out ends up homeless one day!) see and get somewhat used to you and maybe you can get your hands on it. Would definately have leather gloves on when you do - might be very skittish and scared of you. There are humane traps that might work; check it very regularly if you do this, please. -
I tend to leave presents out for the cats that wander my neighborhood, a baited live trap. Usually catch one cat every other night, animal control picks it up next day, owner pays $130 (the City also turns over the owners info to our HOA and they fine them as well) to get it back from the pound, if not recovered within 10 days it's put up for adoption, after 30 days it's euthanized. City Ordinance and HOA rules prohibit cats from roaming free. Even though I live in the Denver metro area, we're 1/2 mile from the So. Platte River and a natural game area, we've got several Coyote, Fox, Raccoons that meander through our area at night. Seems like once a month someone posts a sign on our Community bulletin board that their cat has gone missing....survival of the fittest at it's best. In my 20's, neighbor had a cat that roamed at night, it liked to lay on the roof of my pickup (brand new at the time). It's claws destroyed the paint, after warning the neighbor about it, we caught the cat, turned it over to animal control, along with the $90.00 to get the cat back, he was also served with a summons for Destruction of Private Proverty, the judge sided with us, he paid $900 to have the roof of my pickup repainted.......the cat WAS his daughters, I understand the cat went for a drive in the mountains...............KEEP YOUR #### CATS INDOORS, IT'S A DOMESTICATED ANIMAL, NOT A WILD ANIMAL!!
But, back on topic, I deal with a lot of these mail haulers out west. The speeding mail trucks must be an east coast thing. At least in my area, I rarely ever see one going over 72 mph. We've got 3 or 4 companies that are dedicated mail haulers around here, there is one that does 3 trucks a night to Albq., 2 are straight shots Den. to Albq., they leave about 10pm, get there about 6 am, take 12 off, then back to Denver. The other one goes to Raton, swaps trailers and then back to Denver. They also do 5 nightly runs to Billings, 2 are straight shots, the other 3 are swaps in Casper, one does a local stops W. of Casper, one goes to Gillette, and one goes to Billings. There is a dedicated nightly run Denver to Minn. they leave out about 9pm Denver time, the run is supposed to take 20 hrs each way as a team. -
I'd love to work for USPS directly but they never seem to need anybody in Portland. Don't think I'd be interested in working for a contractor.
The boxing glove kitty is cute to by the way. -
I got em..he came right to me. Took him to the vet, got him checked, shots,,etc..hes now curled up beside me.alaga and NavigatorWife Thank this.

Yaay! Another kitty has a good home! I'm watching a black kitten that roams the neighborhood, he/she seems to be getting skinnier so I guess he/she's homeless. I'll put something out of it tomorrow. "here kitty kitty kitty"

NavigatorWife and Truckinchic Thank this.
