ok i have decided to start a review of my journey.

well i must say, so far i am very happy with KNIGHT as far as how the staff treats the drivers. the only one thing i did not like so far is the old (donkey) Qualcomm system that they use but further more, it gets the job done. another thing is, no one seems to be responsive to the qualcomm, seems like if i want any communication, i have to call in...and most of the times i talk to whoever is available .... so i have a driver manager but so far i have worked with 4 different dispatchers, which isn't a problem because whoever i deal with, answers my questions...and keep me moving... is that the norm? this is only my second driving job and with my first company(prime inc.) there whole thing was use the qualcomm as much as possible for communication.... even when they knew u were driving they would nag....with knight, the qualcomm is unusable while the vehicle is in motion...i like this but sometimes i dont because when i get a message i'd like to see what it is saying...but at the same time, i feel like..if its that important, they will call.

    day 1: Orientation
it was only 2 of us in class, the hotel that we stayed at was decent. on the first day we did paperwork, our physical and of course our drug test, (hair drug test and urine). the other guy unfortunately left because he didnt want to shave his face to use for a hair test and claimed not to have any other body hair.

day 2: watched some safety videos and met more staff. i must say that everyone is concerned and very helpful. did the smith system road test in the company van, and did road test in one of the trucks.

day 3: drug test cleared and all i needed was to pick a truck. i picked a very nice 2010 international pro star. the equipment is well kept and up to date.

i met my driver manager and the first thing he asked is...."where do you want to run"? i was thinking, really, i get to choose!?! but i told him that i only want to run TX, and OK for the first week until i became comfortable with how to do things on my own. so far running just TX i managed to get 2000mi and it has only been 5 days with the company, and i have been home, slept in my own bed 3 times, including tonight. the load i am under, drops at noon 80mi. away...this load will be another 300mi.
i like the fact that we can choose to be paid daily or weekly, i choose daily, but i have not been getting paid, ill check tmrw and see what the problem is. i only had to be unload once, and load twice, but pretty fast procedure...other than that most of the loads are drop and hook. tmrw i am going to expand my "comfort zone" to TX,OK,LA,AR,TN, Miss,AL and i will see if that will allow for me to get more miles.

the company is very flexible about hometime, they asked me...how often do i want to be home, i like the way things are now, one long run out, then one long run back in, a half day off or a day off and do it over again. but i am going to ask to be out one week then 2 days off... hmmm other than that, so far so good....any questions ask me and i'll try to be as informitive to my knowledge and what i dont know i will ask and provide you with the right answer.

i do have a question for any knight drivers,(i will also ask my driver manager this tmrw) but, is there a way to get a email of my pay, with a run down of the trips and miles paid for? ...ok im enjoying my hometime playing (CALL OF DUTY: Black ops 2) ps3 i'll will keep ya posted... :biggrin_25525:

re: pay, are you transflowing your paperwork? Must be done by 1100 Phoenix time to get paid that evening.
No email, but you will get a Qcomm msg with trip number and total miles that same evening.

You have to print your payroll settlements out yourself. They are available at planetknight.com

Hair test is for drugs. Stays in your hair longer than anywhere else. Its no big deal unless you have done illegal drugs in the last 30 days. The functional physical isn't any big thing either. If you get the same little blonde I had, she will get your heart pumping for sure. It was just stepping up and down on a stepstool, pulling 50 lbs (I think) and some other silly stuff. Its not a problem at all. The drug testing at Indy has one strange twist.....It is performed by female office employees in the ladies room. I am out of the Indy terminal and feel it is the best one in the company by far.

Sounds cool bro. I'm looking at both Knight and Tango as they both run on the area that I want and both said I live in a good freight lane to get home and thru the house often. Keep the updates coming.

yea the physical is no big deal like the one driver said... i figured out the problem with my pay....they don't pay out on the weekend....Monday came and everything flowed right through but since I've started, i have been moving...tmrw makes a full week and i have 3200miles so far....i am in west Memphis right now, picking up in little rock in the a.m. taking me home to Houston adding another 500 miles so #### near 3700miles, most of my loads are drop and hook and keep moving, i am preplanned 2 loads in advanced which helps ALOT.... i am not a proud of this, but YES...lets just say my qualcomm came aloose and i had to revert to that good ole paper log,HAHA, (Act like u never did it !)... I am STILL super satisfied... not to bash, but when i was working with prime i only saw 3100miles once in the whole year that i worked for them...although they start you at .42cpm...they also stuff you in a lightweight truck with enough room to maybe turnaround in...and the usual miles for a week was 2700.... EVEN running illegal.... but anywho i spoke with my driver manager and i told him im willing to expand my comfort zone to TX,AR,OK,La for right now... oh and by the way... I've slept at home in my own bed 3 nights this week so far...tmrw will make the forth... if this keeps up, im gonna start knocking on doors and recruiting my #### self.... the daily pay is good... i saw anywhere from 90$ to 230$ per trip depending on how the run was..... ill have to print off my actual payout and be as correct as i can with the pay... one thing i am uncertain of, which you guys can answer but im going to ask anyway.... for tolls, do we just scan in our receipts with the trip, or do we have to get a PO# to be reimbursed...i sent for a PO i put no for tch authorization and i put that it was for tolls on two trips and didnt get a QC response but i did scan it with the trip anyway.... im hoping that were reimbursed for tolls because today on two trips i spent well over 30$....im going to have to stay off of that indian turnpike ...anyways... Safe driving to all and i will keep u guys posted... again i am SATISFIED!!
