You got a great job, Cyanide, and I hope you have more WEEK#5(s) in the near future...If only you could close out the rest of the year with a majority of paychecks like that...Sounds better than a union gig...GREAT thread.

    Cyanide Thanks this.

Trashtrucker1265: Nah, haven't made it that far yet. Stopped for the night down in VA. Was planning on swinging by Calex to say hey to everyone tomorrow but think it'll have to wait until next time.

Buffalo69: THANKS! I am enjoying it greatly, and loving the support that I am getting between work and time off. It's like I've stated before, it is working for me and meeting my needs and my wants.

Cyanide. I'm interested into getting into tanks. I live I WNY about 65 miles se of Buffalo on I 86. I've got 18 yrs exp. but limited tank hauled milk from farm to plant for about 4 months and when I frist started driving with Vitory Express we had an acct to d/h down to Kinsport Tn back to the big paper mill south of Dayton Oh. It was a milky like liquid. I did that 1/2 dozen times. Do plan on moving back to the west central part of of Oh in the next 5 yrs I kinda would like to run like you all over and take 4-5 days of at a time. Kinda like my wife to ride a long but from what Ive read on here that probably won't happen on chemical side I would anticapte on making 60,000 a year leagaly at least bing gone in the neighborhood of 300 days. Any suggestions ? Happy veterans day. Thanx for your service brother.

Caledonia Haulers seems like a real good company, sharp equipment, pretty good pay as far as food grade goes. Hope this helps.

stormin_norman66...thank you for the kind words. It was a genuine honor to serve!

Trying to think of the best possible options for you from what I know. If you're wanting to make in the neighborhood of 60k with tankers running the road, you're most likely going to need to find a good chemical company who will train you, and then you're going to have to learn their system in and out, and quick! They've also got to be able to keep you rolling, which can sometimes be a problem for some companies. The ones I can think of where you would possibly be able to get that training and make that high of an income (from past knowledge) would be Schneider, Transport Service Corporation, maybe Superior Carriers, maybe Dana Transport, Highway Transport, and Enterprise. Also, with where you live ya may want to check out Hazmat Environmental Group Inc.

There is also the option of pulling for the right food-grade company and that means one who pays for accessorials similar to chemical outfits (L.C.L., H.R. Ewell, P.E. Kramme, Johnsrud). Also, w/food-grade you may have the option of having your wife being able to come along. Again though, it's the matter of picking up how the individual company does things and repeatedly grill the heck out of the recruiter/terminal manager/whoever it is you speak with when getting info. Then hit their drivers up as well for info.

My apologies that this isn't super long, just under the weather a little and have had a rough last few days. Good luck and please let us know how things develop for you. Be safe and keep in touch!

SoCal, thanks for noticing lol. Sorry, haven't been online much except for knocking out Christmas shopping early! Figure get it all taken care of now. I'm sure you know the joys of kid wish lists hahahaha!!!

I've been keeping fairly busy, though the last couple of weekends have been very rewarding, albeit due to lack of work. Sounds strange I know but thanks to the stuff happening in good ol' NJ I sat up there weekend before last due to my original load cancelling, then being ordered again for a later pick up. Then, this past weekend in TX, the shipper royally FUBAR'd me and several other drivers' paperwork just prior to their computers crashing for a number of hours. So, sit in their lot on the clock. The only thing that could've made it better was some good BBQ, but needless to say took care of that yesterday at one of my favorite establishments which happens to be about a ten minute drive from the Alsip yard (Hog Wild).

Hope everyone stays safe out on the roads and enjoys the holiday as best possible whether at home, with friends, or out on the road. I'll get my numbers updated once I get my payroll sheets within the next couple of days.
