I wasn't told about the "OTR Bonus of $18.00 per day" till after I was hired on and have to say I thought I died and went to heaven ... no the few extra bucks wont make me rich but it goes a long way in the feeling appreciated column!

Great maintenance on Truck & Trailer I consider a "perk." Where I'm at now the shop boy's really go to town on the equipment and fix anything we mention with no complaint.. (Well you know) But really I have worked for a company where I knew something would break-down every week-just never knew what or when.

Driving now on a 2 lane hwy in MT with the threat of a snowstorm imminent and not having to worry about a breakdown: Priceless.Again I'm talking about the Rig. Driver has a 50/50 shot of breaking down.:biggrin_255:

It is unfortunate that is has come to this - especially in the CSA environment that drivers and companies are working in today however I have to agree with you Bumpy, great maintenance is a perk.

Even before CSA-look at it this way. In working for the company I hinted at before,we were expected to fix almost anything..ANYTHING. A friend of mine told me it took him 3 days to figure out how to put on a fuel pump somewhere in N.C. while working there;which has happily (this trucking co) gone out of business.

Even so-the times I have HAD to run a truck and/or trailer into a shop for some B.S. electrical problem is...well...O.K.....If I had known it WOULD have taken THAT long...I would have read the Bible,O.K.?:biggrin_2556: Maybe even the Hebrew version.:biggrin_2556::biggrin_2556: In other words "Bumpy spends a lot of time sittin...he will think of quittin."
Whoa. Referring to one's self in the 3rd person is probably not a good sign,huh?:biggrin_255:

This may seem kinda far fetched, but the first company that pay's, say, $2.00 an hour for sleeper berth will find itself never losing drivers and have them waiting in line for a job. And yes, there are other factors besides pay that keeps drivers, but paying drivers consistently for all their time in the truck would, and should, be the next step.
2 cents, or whatever it's worth.

I dont need "perks"!! All I need is a HONEST company where the pay is consistent!! Name, Number doesnt matter, just treat me fair and keep the money coming!!
