OK can anybody with experience with installing the spacer plate on a 3406 tell me about the four yellow oring's in the head gasket set, when I took off the spacer plate there was 2 on the bottom of the plate around the dial pins that set on the block side and there is a groove for them to fit in on the spacer plate but on the top of the plate do you install the other 2 orings there? There is a little groove but nothing like the bottom of the plate, when I took off the head I did not see any orings on the top but the gasket was stuck to the block and the head, any advice would be helpful. I also have been told this is a b model c model does anybody know how to determine by the engine serial number 3zj58409 exactly what engine I have, its in a 95 inter 9400 daycab?

Yes, 2 orings on the dowels, then lay the plate down, and put the other two on top.
Anything with the wide rods is considered a C model.....7E-5888 casting number on the pump makes it a C also.... -
Thank you very much
-
The ones ive done and the pictures on sis shows only one o-ring under and one on top.
-
I worded wrong....one on top and bottom of each.
-
you only use 2 orings closest to front cover if you look there is no cutout under spacerplate on other one.
-
You are thinking about a E or C15....A, B and C engines have two oil feed dowels that require o-rings.

Read the serial he posted.....3ZJ is 3406C

just a quick question or two for catpower C15, I just had a 3406B mechanical build done on a 3406C block. I'm seeing coolant sitting on top of the spacer plate on the right side at the #5 cylinder area after the engine has cooled over night. The builder says I'm FOS... he says it's not possible to leak coolant in that area, and it's coming from up by the thermostat and traveling back. I see no trace of such. I'm now having a real situation with this guy, and even though the build is supposed to be warrantied by him, he thinks I'm being argumentative when this motor has oil and coolant leaks before I dump the breakin oil at 8000 mls.
