Per diem gives you a tax break. the company pays part of your pay tax free so the government only gets tax on a small portion of your pay. This means more on your paycheck after taxes but also means less shown at the end of the year. lets say you make $50k a year. on per diem the government would only see you making lets say $30k. so it hurts if you are looking for loans and stuff because they would only see you making 30 instead of 50. (these numbers are made up and do not equal anything)

 

Got back on the road this morning. Got a load from roanoke va to cherokee SCA. I go to arkay packaging in roanoke and you have to drop your empty, pick up your loaded drop your loaded pick up your empty, back empty into dock. Hook up to loaded trailer. And wait for paperwork. Would have barely made that truckstop near SCA but hit knoxville traffic losing 46 minutes. Have a splitting headache shut her down incleveland tenessee at the pilot. Preplanned to pick up at SCA and head to SYSCO in Columbia SC anyone know anything about this pplace?

 

I'll be heading to Cherokee SCA as soon as my reset is finished at midnight

I 20 Exit 138 at the Flying J for the night. Stopped here with only an hour of drive time left. 2 hours 15 minutes from sysco I'm going to leave at 430 and give it 3.5 hours I don't wanna be late, and a lot of shoppers will be out I'm sure. Thanks all for the help.

Applied with Millis about 2 weeks ago. Called Monday morning to inquire on my app, was told everything came back, and everything would be turned into the director of recruiting for further consideration. Within approx 1 hour got a call from Alice informing me my app was approved and would like to schedule me for schooling. Jan 14th is my proposed class start in Richland Wisconsin. Really stoked, need to schedule dot physical, pay my 100 bucks to reserve my seat in class then come up with the other 400. Big step nervous as hell. Anyone have anything to say or recommend for a new recruit. Everything I've heard or read so far about Millis has been positive.

 

dont be nervous. everyone is great and always willing to help new people. Just remember to take your time and just soak up everything you learn. Dont get frustrated if you cant get something at first. It comes to everyone at different times. Oh and above all have fun.
