Need to buy a new CB and was looking for input on whether it should be another Cobra or a Galaxy, and why? Is one capable of being tuned to output more wattage than the other? Lastly, has anyone been using the new Blue Tooth capable radios and how convenient is to use the phone through the CB?

if you are going with just a normal cb, i myself like the unidens, to me they sound better and last longer than any cobra i have owned, though finding a good tech becomes harder.

now it you are going the 10 meter route i prefer galaxy, than magnum radios, i have a galaxy 29 hp dual mofset radio that does cose to 80 watts and it was under 200 tuned and all though i am not sure id is still made but the 33 hp is the same radio with echo and i belive it is under 200 in some places.

do you want side band? that would bring up a whole bunch of other results.

The Galaxy radios they sell in truck stops are no better than a new cobra 29.....Actually some 29's sound better.
The old Galaxy 10 meter radios were a whole different radio.
My old Galaxy 44v is over 20 years old and still blows smoke......they built them good back then.

I'll tell you simply, I have a Galaxy 95t all tuned and ready to go, the radio I use everyday is a cobra 29. I do not believe there is a better radio for the money. My Galaxy sits in the hall closet collecting dust. It works fine, I prefer the Cobra for the rough environment my truck is subjected to in the mines.

I can tune a Cobra to be louder with retaining more clarity than any other radio in the price range. I am a FCC Licensed Tech, with a NABER certificate, and a amateur extra class. There is lots of room for opinion on this subject. I consider clarity as the most important when tuning up a radio.

    Agree with that.
I love my old Galaxy but keep a new Cobra 29 as my backup radio.
Can't beat the 29 for the price and they are tough radios.

I caught a Cobra 29 LTD Chrome edition on sale one day for 99 bucks....good radio out of the box and has never been touched yet by a shop..

Been thinking of having it tuned and an echo-reverb Connex board put in it and using it as my primary radio.
Not sure what kind of power i can get out of it.
My old Galaxy has a good sound and is loud and clear so i want to keep that type of audio.

Honestly 7 to 10 watts, more if you count peak power (which I think is kind of lying, IMHO). You can get a real good audio swing. Have them change the power transistor, audio transistor, and limiter diodes maybe retune the choke if they know how. Adjust the audio till it squares out on a scope, then crank it back till it rounds off into a sine wave thats max audio. It will be very clear and loud. As far as a connex board its a matter of choice but I wold stay with the connex brand.

7 out of 10 tweak-n-peak jocks wouldn't recognize an oscilloscope if it fell on their foot...

Galaxy 10 meter. Don't know what these magical Cobra 29s are made of. The guys using them here in TX can't be heard but a couple miles unless they have linear. Galaxy, General, Connex, etc tuned by good shop are all quite similar. Talk and receive a lot further on quality antenna system. I have a Cobra 25 backup that talks as good as any 29 our guys have. Just been tuned by Ranger Hill CB.

I've got a peaked and tuned Cobra 200GTL thats just sitting in my garage. I won it back in 2008 from petro. It's basically brand new as I can't fit it in my CB bin in my truck. I did use it for 3 weeks in 387 before I got rid of the truck. Works fine... PM me if your interested.
