    That is another one.

I drove by one week and nothing unusual.

The following week, the Sign in the air made me look through the trees.

Loves has been doing that, lately, the one at Perrysburg, OH wasn't on the list for last year and it went up before it was on the list. I haven't been to Sioux City, IA recently, but the 2 truckstops on I-29 by the same exit with the Paccar dealers and Cloverleaf have been bought up and converted to Loves and Pilot. The one at St. Louis that has been in the last 2 issues as proposed is still just proposed.

There is a new Loves going in at Davenport, IA across from the J, which arguably has the worst planning on truck parking anywhere. It is bad for the Mid West, at least.

There is a TA going in at Battle Creek, MI across from the Pilot, this is across the big road from the Firekeepers casino.

    Roadmedic Thanks this.

Yeah, the sign was my only clue that it was going up.

The one they built in Anthony, TX at exit 0 took me by surprise too but that one was listed in the book as coming soon.

There is a Loves going in at Sweetwater, TX across the 20 from the TA.

FWIW, for those of you who haven't been on 20 West past Midland lately, those rest areas near Pyote, TX at mm 69 are now at long last open. HUGE truck parking area. Really nice facilities.

They don't build the truckstops on sight. Its all modular, built in giant warehouses in Mexico. Flown in during the darkest hours of the night and dropped. Same way they used to build BP stations....And Country Fairs for those of us who are familiar with them...

I think it opened either Monday or Tuesday. I know I drove by headed north one day and it wasn't open. Came back thru headed south yesterday, I think it was, and it was open. The dirt lot across the road at the other place was virtually empty. But that lot is so poor that I long since stopped going in there.

The Google maps satellite view shows the Red Pontiac I used to own parked in the street, where I usually parked. The streetview shows a Cadillac and Blazer in the driveway, indicating it was shot before November 2009 when we moved into our duplex.

    my house.jpg

Google recently updated my area. So now instead of showing a red car I haven't owned for a couple of years, and haven't parked outside since '05, it now shows what my neighbor refers to as my "redneck racetrack". The evidence of my taking the Jimmy out and playing with the four wheel drive in the field/forest beside the house. And before you ask, yes I do own that stretch of land. Its a nine acre plot of dirt.
