i always have mine on, mostly to hear bear reports, and occasionally a decent late night chat with some intelligent life forms
but there is something to be said about the cb, i have heard some of the smartest, the dumbest, stuff on there, its people being who they are, and then even adding a little fantasy to it, if you will
its total freedom, its sexist, racist, funny, absurd, and even a comradery is there that you dont see in other industries
you get to see people for who they are (as much as they can be, hiding anonymously behind a microphone)

Kinda like " Good Buddy" back in the day meant something totally different then it does today, my how things change.
-
And besides, back in the day, we refferd to this type of driver you are describing as "Rod Knocker", not "Super Trucker"

The thing is that certain words or titles take on a different meaning when they are spoken. You can pretty much tell by the tone of voice, what is meant by the person speaking.
However, when you are communicating by posts on the internet, it makes it more difficult to know what the intended meaning is. You don't have the ability to see the face or hear the voice of the person to tell if he is joking, being sour kastic (because I can't spell it right now, ok??) or being serious. One of the reasons to use smellies, er I mean smilies.
Anyhow, somebody asked if there are other jobs where people polk fun at each other. Shoot, I can't think of one where folks don't. After all, if you take yourself too seriously there will always be somebody there to "let the air out of your balloon. . .simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
RE: " I've actually seen where a dog was referred to as a hero because it stayed next to its owner's dead body."
Well, That may not be a "Hero" dog...but it is a GOOD dog.
I hear people talk about getting married and having kids. (I am 20 years married and have 2 kids.) I tell them to get themselves a dog. I tried but it just did not work. My best friends have always been dogs. I accept that it is a flaw in me. I tried. It is all my fault. Loyalty is important to me. It should not be so hard. It is so easy for dogs. I understand lies in children. I expected an adult female to be able to look me in the face and tell me the truth. I blame her problem on her stupidity, and I blame that on her geneology. I will not go any further cause I don't want to offend anyone unnecessarily.
So the open road will be fine for me. As long as eventually I am able to have a dog as company.
Roehl does not allow such.
Hmmm... -
Ya, I've got a Lhasa Apso I wish I could take on the road. He's getting old and would do nothing more than sleep on the bunk and he loves going for rides. I guess I'll just leave him here. I'd also like to be able to take my dad, mom, or sister with me but Roehl's policy says only spouse or child.

I've noticed something...the CB ain't nothing but the Internet with a microphone.

Be careful though... once it caught me using my left hand, and call me a two-timing slut...
