My husband is a trainer and he has had some of the students that are just like that. I have no idea how they hire these people who can't read a map or even listen to the GPS. He has to sleep with one eye open too. He has one now that is about as dead as a box of rocks.

The guy you have had sounds like it is a miracle that they haven't fired him yet. I wonder if it would help if you put the addresses in on google and pull up a map for him to see what the whole route looks like in one shot. Then write down cliff notes like go I-70 and go off at exit whatever.

It does sound like he thinks he is in a car where he can just disappear and go touring around, not..... you know how that goes. Even though I love the rest area over around Lake Junalaska because it is so pretty, that is about all the siteseeing you get to do.

Hope he gets a brain and realizes how serious truck driving is and I surely would be calling safety since it endangers you too having someone who is not showing any signs of improving.

If there is one thing that annoys me is a newb trying to teach me something just shut up n listen no u are not right stop messing up we dont have time for this I'd slap him off my truck real quick. It does come down to common sense some people just dont have it, like u OP u have it its not hard to figure directions out n running team is about always considering ur co driver from the way i drive, getting good sleep, n just keeping quiet when i know u are in the back getting rest because in 14 hours i want the same done for me n im putting my life in ur hands. Well good luck in your career bro i hope u find a good co driver.

Driver with 7 months experience, knows he is still new, but not as new as one month.

Liked his team driver, lost his team driver.

    Ran solo

got a new team driver, Highlight NEW!

New driver can't read a map, misses turns more often than "often". Argues about scaling loads...

that is why I will never run team. cannot imagine being stuck in a tractor with someone other than my wife. The 2 weeks with a trainer was enough for me. I have been on the road for 3 months now. I know I am new and have gone off route on occasion but I correct it as quickly and as I safely I can. My company has a strict no u turn policy and I don't want to see what happens if you have an accident or get stuck making a u turn. I have seen my share of stupid drivers in bad situations and i do my best make sure i do not join them.

I gotta have the radio on too. Gotta have some tunes to jam to rolling across the endless landscape. Or at least news.

Exactly! 10 or even 30 miles to get to a safe place to re-route back is waaaaaaaay better than clipping a power pole, or a car or building or getting the truck stuck!
