Just us started my first week in the trainer truck with maverick. The only bad thing about then is your in training for a min of three weeks not counting one week of load securment. Thats not the bad part. The bad part is you don't get to go home if your trainer doesn't live close to you but the recruiter will tell you that they will try to find someone close but if not then you can suck it up for a few weeks, which happens alot. And another thing I don't like is they cut alot of the horse power out of the truck so climbing hills is not my favorite thing to do(all auto). Now on the other hand I love it. Starting with the recruiter (mine was Caleb perice) never lied to me told me everything up front. I didn't know if I made the right choice till I got her the first day. The instructors really care about you and want you to make it threw and they will help u every step of the way. Even one on one time if you really don't get mapping, load sec,or logging. The benefits are pretty good (health dental ..) their already getting rid of there 10s and alot of new guys are getting into 12 and 13s.. if you want to do flatbed I think yohould look into maverick . I love is so far! (sorry for spelling im on my cell)
starting out with maverick

To be be short love it and great choice. I had graduated from a trucking school and a week later came to maverick. Had a lot of choices and if u want to flatbed I would highly recommend it. They are a strict company but when you see the equipment and how will They treat you and the pay you will see why. The give you the best and expect the best. Taking is a min of five weeks. Start on Sunday threw Thursday you will get your job offer. If you have 6 months experience you will take your driving test on a simulator then on the road u go. I when in as a student. After you get you job offer you will go in the barn for your second week to learn load securment. Which will last till the next Thursday. You will be pay$550 a week.. then after thearn you will be out the the trainer. HOMETIME. Home time is a coin toss while the road they will try to find you a trainer that lives close to you so u can go home on the weekends. Mine lived in Missouri so when he when home they put me in a hotel. You will be out in the truck for a min of 21 days then you will go back to little rock to test out on a simulator ..one you get your truck they give u the choice to take the truck and good home for up to a week or just a few days.I I am happy with my choice and I know I made the right decision to come her.I can tell you if you really want to do trucking you will love it here.and they get you your mile the hole fleet avg 2400 miles. But don't get confused one week you my get 2900 and the next 1900sorry for rambling on. But if you go to thhere website and do an appication there will be a portal were you can look at your app lication status and there is a video of how the training goes in more details. Bottom line when your solo your if you in regional you will be home three weekends a month. The recurters don't lie to you and tell u everything up front great ppl to work with.

im currently driving for swift and i got 5 months expierence in van i wanna do flatbed but dont wanna go with trainer for4 weekss 1 or 2 is ok
-
No your best bet is wait one more month then you are an experience driver. And it doesn't matter if you pull a van or flatbed just need six months driving otr.
-
You mention a driving simulator. I have never used or even seen one. How realistic are those things? I just picture a video game in my mind but Im sure that its much more complex than that. And when you test out to go solo you just do it on the simulator? No actual road test?

Good luck.Sounds like a great attitude.Thats everything. This is otr trucking. You cant be home every weekend.

If your and experience driver than you will take a road test. As for students you do it on the simulator. It is just like a video game. I'm my opinion its a little bit harder than going out on the road. Their were a few who failed it. But they let them retest the next day.

So you only get home 3 weekends a month then? And I have heard that a weekend is like Sat morning/afternoon to Sun morning.....that would kinda suck
