My company allows hotels on restarts. Every terminal has a "company hotel" where you can just show your ID badge to pay for it. They don't even require a credit card. If I reset somewhere away from a terminal I run it on my credit card and they pay me back. Company hotels are generally pretty nice places. I won't stay at a dump. I require at a minimum a fridge and microwave. I generally stay at hotels in the $60-$90 per night range, read the reviews online, and check out the property with Google maps.
I am posting this from the Days Inn in Demming, NM. Its walking distance from Walmart and is pretty nice for $105 total for both nights. If I idled my truck here for 34 hours it would cost the company more than that in fuel alone.

I worked for a company yrs ago that actually required all their dispatchers to be former drivers.
was pretty good ,unless you got the "super trucker" as your dispatcher. he says," back when I was driving ,I slept 2 hrs a day and loved it". -
Truthfull answers to questions asked. If you don't know then just say I don't know and either find out or direct us to someone who can answer.
Seems like the thought is if I don't tell them the answer good or bad then the issue will go away. Only thing that goes away are the drivers from that company. -
The point isnt the motel, its getting the driver out of the truck. Keeps them from going psycho.

Every driver is diffferent. Some want more miles and some want more home time. Try and customize your schedules to accomodate each driver individually and stay away from general majority rules type stuff. I used to work for a company that did this and we had an extremely low turn over. If a driver ever quit it was during training or shortly after, once they got going they never wanted to leave. The dispatchers knew every single driver by name and also knew a lot about them just by spending a few extra minutes a day talking to them about their work problems or personal life. If i had a sick kid at home i would get 4 or 5 different dispatchers calling me with their special home remedies.

It's just a nitpicky thing and I'm sure I will get slammed for it, but if you can't take the time to spell simple words properly in a message such as this, what else will you not take the time to do?
-
Especially as upper-level management.

Its just a nitpicky thing and I'm sure I will get slammed for it, but head of safety is generally considered mid level management not upper level.

You are right, I am slamming you for it. Let me tell you why.
It appears to me, that the OP is actually trying to work on something that will make life better for drivers in the company he represents. Now, do you think that this is NOT a good thing?
Do you think that picking excrement with the chickens over his spelling is more productive, than giving him the information that he is seeking?

Either help the guy out or move on. I don't tolerate picking apart others spelling, or grammar, to well.bullhaulerswife and Big Don Thank this.
