Is it a good company to work for?
The job entails either driving a gas tanker or a smaller truck with many gas cylinders. Involves delivering these
gas products to customers in the region ( near DFW ).
Anyone ever had this type of job? Did you like it?
Has anyone worked for AIRGAS?

I work for Airgas but I deliver bulk only. Best company I ever worked for! I've delivered to our cylinder plants and from what I've seen the cylinder trucks are loaded for the drivers. You just make your deliveries and bring back the empties. I think they only work mon- fri . I've only seen the tow motor drivers there on the weekends. I think the hardest part of the job would be learning how to roll the cylinders. But lIke anything else gets easier with practice. My job is pretty easy just pull out a 2" diameter hose and maybe deliver 2-3 stops a day home almost every night. Airgas is pretty strict on safety just take your time and be safe and no one bothers you.I can't answer to much about pay and benefits because we are in different department and region of Airgas . Each terminal is a lil different in pay from what I've seen in the bulk division. Are you applying or did you just get hired? Hope that helps some. Any other questions you have I'll can try to help. Good Luck

Do they have a terminal in or near Austin, TX?

I have worked with them before. The bulk tanker stuff is great I loved the pay and the work. It is a good company. The cylinder delivery stuff was not for me.

Im looking to apply soon. I have CDL-A with air brakes.. but to get this job I need tanker and hazmat. Ill have to get both of those in the next couple days before
the position(s) is/are filled. How much experience do they absolutely require? I have none literally. But I live literally right next to one of their plants where they store the gas and have a clean MVR.
Im trying to decide between AIRGAS or an LTL driver position. Not having much luck with finding LTL companies nearby. They seem to have almost a 0% turnover rate.
Looks like AIRGAS is my best bet. Thanks for the replies. This is one of the more helpful and positive forums I've ever been a part of. -
Why was the cylinder delivery stuff not for you? Care to elaborate?

I work in the cylinder industry and know a little about Air Gas. They will train you on the cylinder class-b routes. For tanker, I believe they require experience. They may train.

Probably heavy lifting involved?

You lift the cylinders onto pallets. But you do a lot of moving around it can be challenging at times. You move everything from the small ones to rolling large dewars.

Dont know of any terminal but may have a cylinder plant nearby
