It only took two months for me to figure out that Gordon was not going to work for me. I stayed out six weeks in order to be able to really see what was possible. Staying on would have meant I would be stuck at around 60k a year which is fine money unless your used to 100k. I can live on 60k but making that means alot of time away from home. I will say that if your a new driver or one thats in your first few years and still building miles hoping to get on with one of the better paying outfits its probably one of the better rookie jobs. They have great relationships with some very big accounts and I never sat waiting on a load.

The 3000 mile weeks are there but you really have to know what your doing to get them consistently. The problems for me included the non stop unsolicited hand holding from the DM's,the poor load planning and logistics support and the time I spent sitting at shippers and recievers not making money.

I did not like to take my 34 off on the road so I ran a 70/8 clock, this was after years of always having at least one day off every week for a reset so I always had a fresh 70 to start my week. For years I would run my 70 out in six days and go home. This meant very long days with usually a ten hour turn between runs. With Gordon I was running 9-10 hours a day and then sitting in the truck the rest of the time. Because I only sleep about five hours a day the rest of the time I spent thinking about how much money I was losing. The 175.00 a day I averaged is honestly chump change in this business unless your a rookie.

I decided to buy a truck and put it on at Landstar. No load planners,no dispatchers you run where you want when you want as much or as little as you want. Its a program that gives drivers with my experience and knowledge the chance to make alot of money.

Good deal! Hope Landstar treats you well. I've heard good things about them. My last 6 mos at GTI I was lucky to get 1800 miles a week
