Wednesday I will be starting on a Walmart dedicated account out of London, KY. coming off OTR after 16 months. The main reason for this is no more Northeast runs for me.:biggrin_25514: I'll just be traveling up to 250 miles away from the London DC. to Walmart stores. Also I will be on a 6 on 2 off schedule which should get me home more often. Just wandering is there anyone else on this forum that is on this account?

I've seen that job posting several times on Schneider's website. Seems like its a good job. I wish they had that job about 100 miles SW from London,KY. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Is it drop and hook or what?

As far as I can tell, there are two types of w/m dedicated. #1 (vendor runs) is picking up w/m mts at w/m distribution centers (d/c). then you go and usually do a live load from a w/m vendor. sometimes 2 hrs, sometimes 24 hrs. then you head to whatever w/m dc needs that 44,000 lbs of deer corn, baby wipes, etc.
#2 (store runs) is delivering TO w/m stores. you'll watch a w/m store delivery video, and have a w/m driver do some quick q & a, then they assign you a w/m driver number and off you go, no safety net. U always end up (but not necessarily end your 11 or 14) at a w/m dc.
    A. pick up store load at dc
    B. deliver to store XXXX, then hook to an mt at that store dock, and call in and see where w/m wants you next.
    C. sometimes it mite b a 3 or 4 store live unload deal for the new walmart neighborhood markets. store 1 gets 6 pallets, 2 gets 8 plts, #3 gets 7 plts, then u drop the trlr at store 4, pk/up that mt, and off u go.
Some days u can get maybe 400 miles, some days liike day C, more like 250. Maybe your company hooks you up with stop pay, then day C could b good. for me, about 50% of store loads were hazmat, so that was xtra pay.
If you like swinging by a walmart store e: day for supplies n food, NO idling, no trk stp urine smell, sleeping quietly at stores or DCs, almost getting a load as soon as ur 11 is fresh, having a flexible schedule (i ran hard mostly, but i took it easy one week I was sick, only ran about 6-8 hrs those days), flying thru the w/m driver lane at ALL guard shacks, never catching slack from w/m store punky security guards (cuz ur always hooked to an official walmart trlr, watching how well the W/M Drivers are treated, with their WALMART DRIVERS ONLY showers, towells, and truck washes, and twice the paperwork, then you'll do fine.

I see they are still lieing about the 250-300 mile radious. Plan on spending 6 days in Onley IL, Washington Courthouse OH and sometimes Gordonsville Va. Overall it is not a bad place to work, but they will do everything possible to run you 14hrs at a time. And do not make plans around the holidays, you will be on mandatory 34Hr restarts. When you are running in London, you can usually get home for a 10Hr break 2-3 time a week, sometimes you will get pushed out to a 12-15hr break by dispatch.

Schneider only hauls food, mostly meat, produce, frozen dairy, sometimes help WM drivers with dry foods (remix)

Schneider does all training, no Walmart videos, you will run with a trainer for at least 6 days or until he says you are ready. Schneider has dedicated dispatchers and managers, will give you all the support you need.

You will always start your load at the DC 95% of the time with multiple stops, sometimes with a return back haul. You will avg 2200 miles, about 12-20 stops a week. With stop pay($15), Backhaul($30) and short haul expect to make about 45-52000 a year.

Schneiders drivers are allowed to use W/M showers, towells, and truck washes. Have never had a Walmart enforce the No Idling rule at a store, you do have to be careful at some stores where the local police write parking tickets. Walmart pays their driver tickets, but we are on our own. Just ask the store managers if it is a problem to park, most store managers are very freindly, and we get priority to unload (if another truck is in the dock, tell the manager and they will have him move.) Loads are dispatched at 700-1000am and 4:00-6:00pm, you must update your NAT (next available time) before you leave the DC, and expect to have another load before you return.

I have considered the Wal Mart account at the Wintersville Ohio DC. The thing that stops me is the slip seating of trucks. If they didn't slip seat they'd probably have an abundance of applications.

Ok considering appling for the walmart dedicated out of indy im currently with them otr and the pay varies way too much. So my questions are what should I expect as far as a weekly check? Do drivers do the unloads? Not a big deal just wondering... thanks in advance and have a good holiday..

I've only filled in on this account when my account didnt have work for me that night. No driver unload that I did BUT you have to be on the dock removing these little stickers they have on each pallet. These are place on a sheet in th eorder they came off the truck, then scanned in with your paperwork.
