Yes, I did write that. You wrote you ate plenty of carbs and lost weight. Those are similar statements. Granted you also wrote carbs are a food group...so I don't think we are on level ground here.

As far as implementing eating habits in a trucking environment - I gave clear and concise examples of what the OP can do. Well, what anyone can do. They follow a low carb/carb cutting plan as well as a "balanced plan". Everything I listed is completely within reach of any trucker or spouse. Most of what I listed I learned during my (non professional) time spent in a truck. Growing up I spent a TON of time with my family in trucks. Although I was too young to drive, or load, or do the outside work - I still ate in the truck. Bologna and mustard sandwiches. The meat required no refrigeration, neither does bread or mustard. You drank water and coffee - because it's what we could afford. Occasionally a can of beans thrown in, although I hated them (still do). You already said you follow most of the tips I gave, so I am unsure how this is so difficult to implement.

Alas, I will bow out as to not derail this thread anymore.

Well anyone that knows nutrition would know what I meant by carbs. Potatoes are a carb, but a vegetable for example. I wasn't aware I had to spell out to adults that whole grains would be better than white bread etc... If it was so easy we would be a much thinner nation. And your 'same level' comment just shows the upity attitude. If you can't decipher what I was saying, I am not the one on a low level. And yes I did eat a lot of carbs and lost weight! Not really trying to get off the last pounds doing it the same way though, but cheap and convenient foods are full of carbs unfortunately.

Yes, I do follow heathly guidelines like your tips. But by no means did I say it wasn't difficult. It's very difficult. And not able to implement more often than not unfortunately. Balanced plans are certainly not always within reach. And escpecially not on a budget, have you ever bought anything at a truck stop for two people? As I stated before, we only go home once every month or two, and we run hard, so having time to stop and shop is hard enough. Besides being in a place that has a Walmart (only store a truck usually can get into) thats convient and en route when we have time.

And from what you stated your experience eating on a truck was certainly not healthy, but you should know how expensive it is. Plus from your post I gathered your time on the truck was as a child, so that certainly is not a view of an experience adult.

I know I said I was done, but look at my last edit and you'll see why I answered again:)
I am also curious as to why you are on this site?

Well, that is because you have not studied it. You do not need carbs as an energy source when your body has excess fat. That's the whole point. When the body needs energy it will burn up the fat. That's how and why it works. Also note that I said "low carb" and not "no carb". Calorie counters tend to feel hungry all the time and therefore fail in their diets. Low carbers feel full, and consume less calories without even paying any attention to the count.

the reason carbs get a bad rep is things like white bread, white rice.etc have a ton of sugar which just turns to stored energy aka fat. switch to brown rice or wheat bread, a lot less sugar and you should be ok

darky, loosing weight is a simple science. everything we eat has calaroies, even the healthy stuff so dont fear calories. its the amount, to loose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in. in my one year ive only seen maybe three people exercising when im done for my 10.

be careful even a lot of the so called healthy foods you buy are processed and not real good for you, just a marketing sham. if you didnt prepare and cook it yourself, odds are it probably isnt too good for ya

Not going to happen driving a truck and that is reality.
My advice...do what I and a few ex war vets are doing...use driving to get through college and then get the heck out of the truck for good....if you want to live a long time that is.

What works for one person, may not work for another. If you have really 'studied' it, you would know that. Berating someone, or acting like you're better, doesn't mean that person hasn't look into it either, and certainly doesn't qualify you as being a genius.

The fact in is your weight is calories in vs. calories burnt. It's that simple. If you cannot eat right, you can lose weight by eating less. It may not be healthier that way, but neither is being overweight. We all just have to do our best!

Exercise is the big key. You can eat healthy all you want but if your taking in too many cals good or bad food you'll gain weight. Plus if you see a lack of production in losing weight then you'll end up off the tracks again. You can get creative, it's hard out there but it can be done. They really need to get those gym's on full swing to help you guys out. I won't go Otr unless they got real gym's near or in the truck stops. It drives me crazy not to go plus it's becoming a hobby to me. Eat right and exercise and you'll drop the weight. A simple way to start cutting calories is to cut soda, juice, coffee, energy drinks etc. Just drink pure water and take supplement from like gnc to give you energy to get you thru your shift. You can drink 1k calories easy in one day when your only suppose to take in less than 2k to lose weight. Try to eat 1k cal in day you'll be starving. Very simple and your body will be happy. You'll thirst for water when you get used to it and won't want to drink anything else cause it will make you feel dehydrated. some people will drop 10-15lb lbs just by doing that. I drive nights and can now get thru with no coffee or energy drinks. Just water, maybe 1 small vitamin water, and a supplement and I get thru the night pretty easily without drinking a gal of coffee, energy drinks or soda. Cut those out helps with the blood sugar too.

    Trucail and Lonewarrior Thank this.
