TYPING LIKE THIS DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE YOU RIGHT.

And you missed the point. Quite frankly, Its nobody's job to go out of their way to validate your story, especially not your employer who has a million and one other things going on. The world doesn't revolve around you just because somebody in your family passes, period. Follow procedure and turn your truck in the right way or face DAP consequence. Like it or not, thats the way it is...

I agree Harleynite you don't need to Validate Death, I'am glad I left K.B. Transportation sick , sick Driver Manager trying to seduce me with Long runs if I go out with Him, Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...They are so Unprofessional Terminal Manager yelling at Driver Managers that is why they have conference rooms you have grievance take them in the room not yell at them in front of everyone. What kind of impression is that of K.B.Transportation 3 days was way too long for me..

A good company will relay your load and get you a load home immediately. A better company will stick you on a plane. If they don't, you don't want to work there.

For others I would talk directly with a terminal manager. If they don't, tell them they have two days to get you to a terminal to turn the truck in on the Qualcomm/PeopleNet. I would take pictures of your messages for a DAC dispute. Once you give a company notice they can't hold you hostage like some try to do. They have to make an reasonable effort to get you back to the terminal even if it means a relay. Then if they don't then proceed with plan B and everything will be understandable on the quitting end.

When my mother passed we put the funeral off five days while the family come in from all around the world. Though it's a very tough time emotionally, sometimes that's necessary. It took me three days to get there but that was a reasonable effort.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. Losing your parents is never easy.

When shopping for a company one of your questions should be about bereavement leave. The whole family gets copies of the death certificate if they want proof.

The above five or six posts are why we have a failing economy and why dot heads are stealing our jobs. Death is awful, but its no excuse for ####### up in the business world. If you abandon your truck you're costing your company money. If you leave a load to be rescued you're costing your company money. If you're not working when you're supposed to be, guess what, you're costing your company money. Too many unnecessary costs to your company and they have to pass the buck. Usually that means terminating jobs like yours. I agree that time off is important for something like family matters, but request it and go about it the right way. If you let your emotions take over and forget that the world still turns the same way regardless of your personal situation, then chances are you're going to have to deal with the consequences. You're all adults, start acting like it...

If there has been a death in your family and it means enough for you to go to the funeral I don't want you driving a truck. You are going to be distracted at best. Losing money on 1 load is better than having an accident. Take the time you need to get your stuff in order and then come back to work. You're not acting like a child by getting off the road, you're being responsible.

Well said Melton the Emotions that are running in your Mind after a Death of Love one is so unexplainable. So I agree its better lose a Load have it be late then have a Driver die in a accident or others it is being responsible..
