You heard from one pissed off driver having a Bad day. Talk to him when he's having a good day. Whole different attitude. Plus you only heard half the story.

$300 a day, or $0.67 a mile with extras, including medical, dental and retirement. This is good money. Bad? Well, some guys around here are running for $0.37 with nothing and driving crap equipment.

thelongwalker: Other than oilfield where do you find a carrier paying that kind of $$$??? Certainly not in the Prairies. I agree that your 67 cents is probably close to where it should be. None of us will live long enough to see that happen. Even 55 cents would be OK.

Don't encourage the down trodden. They believe there's no better life than driving OTR for a mega fleet by the mile.

all bulk hauling pays WAY better than pulling cans. Look for ore hauls, wood chips or fibre, grain maybe. I make that hauling copper ore. Get paid to put on/ take off chains, wait times etc.

Oh..... and i'm home every night :-D

Certainly no money in hauling grain. Some pay strictly a % others pay by the mile. A few pay less than $15.00 an hour. If you have been by an elevator this fall the line ups are many hours long. No waiting pay.
