Now on day 7 pulling the dreaded curtainside. Delivering aluminum extrusions to 4 stops in the Denver metro area made some sense for a curtainside but then I went to Pueblo, CO to pick up 8 slinky's. Had to scale 5 times, slide the tandems 4 times, and have the product shifted one time, (with the distance between the scale and the loading area being nearly 3 miles) in order to get the weight distributed correctly between axles. The gross was 79,820 and the trailer tandems were exactly 34,000 when all was said and done. If I had had a flatbed it would have been no issue. 5 hours later I finally got on the road and actually made it to the consignee in Chillicothe, MO yesterday at 1700. Had a preplan that had me loading in St Joseph, MO going to Rochelle, IL, with a "promise" to get me to Gary afterward so that I could get a flatbed again, but then they cancelled that preplan on me.

Then last night I get an assignment to load in Holstein, IA on FRIDAY at 1700 (yes - a full 48 hours AFTER I was MT on my last load) and deliver in Washington DC on Monday.

Looks like I'll be stuck with this $*&% curtainside for at least another week.

Every time I get one I tell our dispatcher to put me on something else and fast. I give him 3 days, if after that 3 days I'll deadhead to a terminal and turn the truck in. After that I haven't gotten one in about two months.

    Perpetual Thanks this.

I'm sure it's been said before, but this is a reminder and info for any newer drivers. The prepass plus in the trucks does NOT work on Oklahoma toll roads. You will have to go through and pay toll cash and get receipt and get reimbursed when you scan trip ticket.

    wistrucker101 Thanks this.

I always get routed the fl turnpike which is also US-91 but never take it. 44 to US 27 follows it straight down for the most part. Sometimes it's only one exit on the turnpike but then sometimes they want you to take it the whole way. It's pretty cheap but I pass on it every time. I-75 through the Everglades is a toll? Huh learn something new everyday. Also Mackinac bridge in Michigan it doesn't cover it either. Found that one the hard way luckily I hit a ATM before it
