i'm much like the op. i dispise seat belts.

it's my right to be safe or not. not the police or the government.

i specially don't like the hickey on my neck becuase of seat belts.

i'll let ya in a little secret though. when i first came back out on the road. i got a few lvl 3's from the police. for no reason at all. cept they were bored.

9 months ago i started wearing. it's been 9 months since i've been pulled over just for the heck of it.

as much as some of us hate the darned things. it's also an excuse for harrasement. the more you do to make cops and dot smile. the less you'll get stopped.

I wear mine all the time. Car or truck it doesn't matter. One, I'm not particularly fond of being force fed a face full of windshield. Two, I'm not particularly fond of paying the government any more money than I have to.

I got 4 seatbelt tickets. I'm starting to learn it's cheaper to wear it. I still forget to wear it sometimes but I'm getting better.

Just to digress a bit more, I think you will find that many (If not most) states now use a "Uniform Crash Report" rather than the "Uniform Accident Report".

    Best regards

I always have worn a seatbelt in any vehicle. Same thing with motorcycle helmets, saved my life twice. Law or not, I always used both.

I had an owner operator who was backed up in trafffic.
The state was mowing the interstate and traffic was back beyond the warning signs.
He was struck from behind by a log truck that never stopped.
He bounced off the small van in front of him and went down the embankment until the front end struck the swampy bottom.
The interior of his stand up freightliner bounced off of him as it went out the wind shield, desk cabinets & all broke loose.
He looked like he was the looser of a heavyweight title bout.
Six months later at the company safety meeting I asked if he was belted.

He stood up an said he would not be there if it wasn't for the seatbelt 'cause after striking the bottom his truck rolled on over the contents that flew out thru the windshield.

The belt kept him from being run over by his own truck!

I'm alive for having my lap belt on that was in the Mack I was driving after being hit head-on and then sliding down the shoulder and rolling over. When the truck stopped, I was still in my seat, able to shut off the truck and get my senses back and get out of the truck.(Fuel tank was crushed and dpraying fuel on the engine and steaming.) Had I not had my seatbelt on, I would of probably broken both legs and may have went through the windshield and been run over by my own truck. I'll wear the belts. I only ended up with a knee injury but was able to getaway from the truck.

I hear many say, "Well I don't wear them and might be thrown clear of the wreck." Most of the time, the body is found under the vehicle.

I also work in motorsports and work with a professional stuntman. I'm the one who installs the belts and belts the stuntman in, so I RELY on seatbelts to keep my friends alive for your enjoyment.

One piece of advice, when wearing your belts, keep them snug, and PLEASE don't put the shoulder harness under your arm, in the event of an accident, your shoulder will get messed up. Slack seatbelts can bruise you when you slam into them, that's why you always see racecar drivers always tightening their belts. I had my lap belt tight in my wreck and never hurt where it was, but I couldn't raise my arms above my head for almost a week form bracing my self for the impact.

PLEASE wear your seat belts, drivers.

    Thanks.

My dad was like that a few years ago he got 2 tickets in 3 months and has been wearing the seat belts ever since. I personally always wear it. Unless I'm backing.

good or bad is not the problem, just like wearing helmet on motorcycle,it is not the govt responsibility to protect me from me.now before all you say who will take care or pay to care for you if you get hurt i ask this question, what about all the smokers who will pay for them, the govt needs to get out of our lives, and only going thru scales my answer
