whether you hate, like or love working at DOT there are a few things you can't dispute

-they do have one of the best training programs out there, the trainer is in the jump seat the entire time, none of that team driving bs where the company uses you to run team. you also rotate with different trainers while in training, they cover all your meals while in training, not a bad deal at all for a newbie

    - you will make money even if you don't want to (i begged them to run me less so i get more home time, i am home weekly but i want to be home more during that week, they said no go, i HAD to make at least 50k...I am on track to make closer to 60k this yr)

-i can't speak for other dcs but my dc (modesto) the management is great, they actually hear you out and try to help you out if they can, also they have their CDLs. Pretty much zero hand holding or micromanaging at all.

I will not know if I have failed to sell my time to DOT for about five more days. I just hope that if I did not get the job that they do not make me drive out there two more times. Even at 28MPG an 80Mile trip is expensive on personal accounts.

I am not that big of a fan of sharing my sleeping territory with another person, even temporary. It is one of the reasons I wish Sysco would hire me instead. No sleeper tractors. That and sleeping in my own bed every night. Either way, without the experience, I am screwed in that department. Thankfully, due to experience grinding, pay is not a big deciding issue.

hey kayot when i went out for my interview (dc is 350 miles away from my house) they reimbured me for my gas and put me up on a hotel, this was before i got hired, maybe they'll do that for you to, good luck!

did you do your physical yet (where they make you lift weights and take your blood pressure/heart rate) if you did, that's a very good sign (not trying to get your hopes up)

indiana is a very good dc, i'm from ca and i think ca and indiana are the top two performing dcs

I wouldn't mind a hotel for the orientation. It's 80Miles one way. I'm probably going to move nearby should I get the job.

I haven't done the physical as of yet. I do have very recent medical papers that I turned in, but I assume that they will not be enough. I'm more worried about that eight weeks of someone else in my sleeping perimeter. I have trust issues and will probably have a hell of a time going to sleep for the first few days.

Oh well I'm not gonna say what caused it , I honestly don't know the details , I do know this , DOT it's self was not the reason this happen. If I'm the driver , no one in an office is gonna drive the truck from their desk. NO ONE !
