53 isn't bad, especially when you get the hang of it. Just have to make your turns a little wider and watch your tandems a little more. You also have a bit more tail behind the tandems. Really wasn't that bad the first time I drove one.
Swift's definitely low-balling you, though. At least I think so. Sure, you will probably need a little training, but not in a rolling sweatshop! Have you tried Schneider or Roehl? They might do you a little better.
