I have seen alot of flatbedders doing the bicycle on the back rack thing, it seems to be a pretty good option, and if all else fails, i may end up going that route. Right now, im staying very open to different type of truck/freight because my main priority is the bike thing. I think it would make living on the road much more enjoyable for me. Currently we are looking at pulling a dry van for landstar, although Ive thought alot about tanker work. Just having a hard time trying to find an outfit where they dont want to pay you some ######## flat rate at a dollar a mile and expect you to be happy about it.
Taking O/O seriously (bringing motorcycles on the road) help!

Consider using an electric (folding?) bicycle... A lot cheaper, lighter, and quieter than a motorcycle.
-
Yeeeeeaaaahhhhh ....... About that ..................
-
My thoughts exactly!!!
-
agreed, Id rather walk than be on an electric lol

There used to be an add in Landline Magazine in the back for a setup that was basically a DROM box you mounted behind the cab and it had a hydraulic lift kinda like a container loader trailer, you side loaded it. For this tho you guys will need a long wheelbase truck.
Or you can do this......
281ric and cetanediesel Thank this. -
That thing is SICK!! but yeh, there is a company called rampage(used to be toytrax) that has a setup that will lift the big 800+ lbs touring bikes, but the weight of the box and the added weight of the winch and lift combo seem to be a little over the top for what im looking for. Im still thinking that a normal wheelbase truck with a tanker (with the 5th wheel pushed back) would probably give me enough room to put both bikes behind the sleeper. But i am willing to run a smaller sleeper as well.

I would hate to drive that truck...well, I mean sleep in the bunk
SHC Thanks this. -
I would trade the sleeper berth space in exchange for the space for the bike.
SHC Thanks this. -
When would you ever be in the sleeper? I'd be out riding the bike, and staying in a hotel while I'm taking the bike trip.Elvenhome21 Thanks this.
