Who has them on there cobras and are they any good. If you talk toa shop that installs them they say there great. Talk to one that doesn't and they are junk. Want to hear from drivers who have them and what they think about them. I have a company truck so I can't run a liner which I would prefer. If you like it where did you get it done at?

You are nto going to get the same distance and range out of the RFX that you will get with a comparable priced linear.

Yeah I know that. But I can't put a linear in a company truck. Trust me that is what I would rather do for sure.

I have an RFX 75 on my Magnum 257HP, as it came this way from the factory. I usually get good reports, however I take them with a grain of salt. Really need to throw it on an oscilloscope and see what it looks like.

Some folks swear by the RFX and others are against it. The RFX is a great band-aid for when you can't run an amp, and we all know an amp is often used as a band-aid for when you don't want to run a well tuned decent antenna/coax set up.

Very true on the band aids LOL. I do have a good coax and I run a Francis antenna which isn't the greatest but isn't horrible. I run fiberglass because I have a cascadia and I have my antenna behind the sleeper so I can't use a coil. The top is over the cab. The only reason I am considering the RFX is basically I have ran out of things to do to my radio. I know I could spend the money and just buy a bigger radio but I have so much money in this cobra I like it. I like talking to someone and they think I have a big radio when I only have the little cobra. Haha

My biggest concern is I don't want to put the RFX kit on it and ruin mynradio and have to start from scratch.

The RFX is only going to get you around 60 more watts...a better option since your company won't allow a Amp, would be to just get something like a Stryker 497, or a Galaxy 98 or even the new General 100w radio and be done with it...

Your not going to see that much of a difference between something like a Cobra 29 with the RFX vs, something like a 60w General Lee which you can find New under $200 if you shop around on the Internet.

I've got the RFX on my 29LX. Works great. I've never been told it sounds bad but I've checked and rechecked and then checked again my entire set up so I know it's not just over modulating crap.

When mine was installed it put out 91 watts on the meter and had a clean looking signal on the scope. IMO they work good if your other components are set up right.

the radio that responds the best with the RFX is the cobra 29. dunno why..........but that is just a reality. i had one on a galaxy dx88 that was doing about 70 watts. it was set to key 2 and swing the rest. i drove the batcrap out of a texas star 250 with that radio. it made that amp scream. it is a wonder it didnt kill either one.

I have to wonder how many channels on either side of you were unusable due to splatter with that setup...
