I don't personally consider it theft when it was the company that directed me to the pallet exchange and told me to pocket the cash as reimbursement for the inconvenience of having to ditch the pallets responsibly. But I also know not all companies will do that for their drivers.

they do say you have to be in the sleep compartment not that we always are
if DOT came thru the TS all of us could be written up for sitting in the drivers seat
while on SB -
The rules have changed>You can sit up front and not have to be on duty.
-
The other thing you ust consider while pocketing the lumper fee, is this is the most likely place for you to injure yourself. And if your claiming to be in your sleeper to your dispatcher your in a very uncomfortable situation to say the least. They may refuse to cover the injuries . be-careful.

The OP said as an O/O, which is a different animal VS. company driver. O/O's negotiate with the broker on load/unload terms and how it will be paid. Plus, he's not restricted by his company telling him what not to do.

1 time i have a load with 12 stops, cabinets to unload the agend give me $100 for each stop ,for me was this a good deal, when the price is ok iam unload

There is no requirement to actually be asleep when logging sleeper berth - only that you're actually in the sleeper.

When I pull a reefer, I am usually too tired to unload my own truck. I do not mind pulling the pallets off if load is already on wood for a few bucks, but a floor load of produce will be a job for a lumper.

The company I worked told us, sell the pallets and pocket the money, but return the blue ones. It was not a mega-carrier, but is a major carrier.

I have a split personality; I can unload while in sleeper berth.
