I am sorry, I took you seriously.

I did not realize you were quoting from the "Truck Stop Lawyer's Handbook."

While not espousing any mandate or even the use of e-logs, I like using one for one of the reasons the OP started this thread... to eliminate any stupid LEO junk about having to do a recap. It is done for me by the box.

While many in the conspiracy camp think that carrier are going to e-logs to play big brother with drivers, this thread is but one of the reasons carriers are going to them. To eliminate any possibilities of some negative on the CSA because of nincompoops that work at scales.

I heard you still have to have a logbook. In case the satellite goes down.

How about the nincompoops that do compliance audits? If this keeps going the way it is intended, you will be dinged for doing an equipment check on a ramp when something seems amiss, wish I was joking, but I'm not.

Always beware of "The Law of Unintended Consequences".

That is how I feel about it. I personally didn't get the ticket but a friend who manages another company told me about this I want to know if anyone else has had to deal with this non-sense. I to have had 3 DOT inspections in KY Eddyville,Shelbyville, and Franklin and every time (except Shelbyville) they look at they look at the logbook they flip to where I did my last restart and stop there, Shelbyville didn't because it was 2001 and restart wasn't around.
All I was wondering is how to combat it if I would happen to get a ticket for this or another other law that vehicle enforcement decides they want to make up on the spot. I know vehicle enforcement are rejects from the KY state police and a complete waste of taxpayers dollars so I could imagine them sitting around and thinking of BS to pull. If it was up to me vehicle enforcement would run around in Toyota Prius cars, wear rainbow colored uniforms and for a sidearm have a pink BB gun.

It has everything to do with exactly WHAT IS required by regulation. Since recap is not mentioned, it is not REQUIRED.

Yes, that is true. You don't have to fill them out everyday, but if your satellite goes down you better have the last seven days printed out.
